Have a look at the stillwater range, Chapmans Angling sell them, I had a set of their version of 6010 baitrunner and for thirty quid i could not fault them they seen a lot of action on a local runs water and other than chipped paint they still work fine. They seem to of discontinued the ones i got and are now doing a big pit baitrunner for thirty five quid, worth a look.

Night fishing in coventry is real thin on the ground. Even KWPs night ticket is around 500 a year Currently chuking it down lucky I have my tescos trashey novel to read looks like the rain is here for the day.

Well my annual sea trip went as usual, nadda. i only do a bit on the evening tide, the only fish that were coming out were mackerel to lures. so i think i will get some bait today and see about a bit on the lakes for the end of next week. got some new soft shell gear i picked up from the surplus store in whitby to try out. Chinese version of the snugpack range.

ESP are putting out some good videos lately, the only problem i have with martins videos is the comparison i always make to his uncle JW's old tv programs, he used to show his lost fish and mishaps too, all part and parcel of fishing.

You do have other options if you want to tart them up, carbon effect hydro dipping looks nice, if you have someone local that will do small jobs, or you could do it yourself, it is very similar to the old decal transfers you get in airfix model planes and that, My brother-inlaw is currently playing about with a BMW that he is slowly turning into a track/road car, he puts it on wheels and body panels, so it must be quite hard wearing, i have thought about getting my fiesta wheels done, but i doubt i would get a discount, lol. Chrome is a sod to paint, but it can be sanded back to take a paint, some paints are said to be able to cover chrome, but they don't look right and the chrome still shows through even in black

When i asked the same question a few years back Turnip recommended burning cork to keep them away. The citronella candles work, you can get a big bucket candle made with citronella, hate the stuff myself, gives me a headache.

Just had a look at the CEX site they have plenty of the ones Nige suggested, they certainly hold their price. i will be sticking with my fine pix lol

Was going to suggest a second hand buy too, CEX have some real good quality cameras in most of their shops, plus they check them out well and you get a six month guarantee, or there is the cash converter type shops, but you have to be careful when buying from them, some of the electrical stuff can be a bit shoddy and you only get a three month grantee.

Margin pole recommendations
Carpbell_ll replied to Ryank's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
shimano used to do their beast master range they were made for larger carp. looks real boring though, all that shipping in and back out in order to play the fish. -
I have a set that i wear most of the time, but need a slightly stronger pair for close up detailed stuff they are the ones i left at home, pound shop glasses are just as good as any other pair of glasses and a big money saver, tried to fit up with a set of bifocals last time I went to the opticians, not ready for the librarian look just yet. Keep meaning to get a price on a set of react to lights with the polarized lenses, too scared to ask though.

Been toying with the idea of putting one of my rods back on a helicopter lead as I think it would be a better set up for my pop up rig than the inline, which really was sinking into soft mud the other day. What i would like to do is add a quick link to the mainline to take the hook rig. I normally set my rods up on the bank with an inline, but i would prefer to do the heli at home and be able to add the rig and lead when i start fishing, which would mean threading any beads and quick link on at home and one of the safety release systems for the lead. Can anyone see any issues with a quick link on the mainline, i use a loop to attach the rig when on a inline lead and slide a bit of tubing over the link, would do the same on a heli with a quick link too. See Korda have recalled there safety release system, think Gardener do one as well? Used the korda one before and found it ok, did think that if they used a slightly lesser quality plastic there might be problems with the plastic breaking on the cast.

And another mirror slightly bigger with no scales. Had that on a cpv gold with aMS pop up cut in half on top. Kettle on now tea and a hot eater bottle. A cold mist has rolled in.
-
Just had a small mirror on a midlands special pop up. So im pleased I know my rig was sitting right. Really need to remember to bring my reading glasses next time. Those plastic bait screws are awakward enough.

Hi al, l'm out at the mo, not a lot happing yet. Been here since yesterday. Lake is very quiet, fish seem to be hanging around the back of the islands and the water is very warm. Wondering of they are near to spawning Spelling abit wrong.

Best home made baiting pole i have seen was made from an old fishing pole and a landing net handle.
-
similar to the reverse combi rig i use for my pop ups, i have been putting the weight at the start of the stripped back braid making some of the braid stand up, gives a nice natural movement in the water, think i could of done with something closer to the deck this past week though.

10ft Carp Rod Recommendations
Carpbell_ll replied to RobertZilla's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Been using the fox torques in 10' for just over a year now, i really like them cast well and very accurate, lovely to play fish on, the others would be pretty similar so i'd go with the set you can get the best deal on. -

Still undecided on what to get, who knew line could throw up so many choices, if i stick with the tiger line i will up it to the 0.37 size, the guy who runs the lakes is good enough to let me fish them and i'm sure he can see i'm not the most competent angler, best i stick to the rules as there is no shortage of anglers trying to get on. I have been looking at monos and tubing too, anyone used the Rig Moral free fall flexi tubing, the newish one that is braid coated ? -
JRC Contact rods are very good for the money i think they went down to around £20 each from fishing republic last year

If you ever want to give the Tiger line ago, i really do highly recommend it on smallish waters the abrasion resistance is for margin fishing is second to none, the only drawbacks is keeping it clean and price if you want to fill a big reel. this would be the fourth year on my reels and it is still in good condition. -

perhaps i should of said i would like the line to sink as far back from the lead as possible due to not using a sinking leader of sorts, never had a cut off yet and have been fishing like it for a few years now on some very weedy lakes. besides aren't all bottom bait lines billed to "sink like a brick" I'm guessing that's the reason for the rule change? didn't say just upped the line size requirements for this year. -

Very thick weed and the bottom of the lakes is very rugged with lots of deep holes. In a mono nylon line the 38mm is around 16-20 lb, the tiger line is very fine for its size, i was thinking of going heavier to get a better sink from the line, the only draw back being the amount of stinky winky it picks up. -

No one got any suggestions on problems or differences i may encounter by using the thicker line, or is it such a minimal difference that i will not notice any changes? -
A good first bivvy?
Carpbell_ll replied to TheKingTench's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
You might want to have a look at the Korum range they do a multi shelter that is tall enough for a day chair but easily doubles as a comfy bivvy, comes with a removable front the only thing it does not have is an outer skin, no biggie i have never used a winter skin, don't need one between now and next November.
