  1. If its any use to you I use about 4 feet, and generally most of the materials on the market straighten (the good ones anyway) by just running your fingers a couple of times down the length of leader, also remember to clean the leader ever so often as they pick up muck which makes then more visible than something like tubing.
  2. Fox items at the minute but thats mainly due to them producing a nice set of components for my current rig choice. With regards to companies its horses for courses, everyone will have there preferred components the main thing is that you have confidence in using them not what brand is on the outside of the packet.
  3. I don't sharpen them, but to be honest they are sharp straight out of the packet i have drawn blood several times when tying simple rigs, I love the pattern perfect for the rig i use them with and the hook holds have all been nailed so far, the only thing I am not certain of is the coating it seems to taint quite quickly but i need to use them more to give a proper verdict, another nice thing is the price point 50p a pack cheaper than my previous choice
  4. I'm down to just 1 at the minute which serves both presentation's I favour, 7-8 inches of ESP Tungsten Loaded, strong wide gape hook (at the minute this ESP Croygen Grippa not used them long enough to make a proper evaluation), piece of tubing over the eye, hook ring swivel and hook bead, I just adjust the hook bead and putty to weather i am using a pop up or wafter. Looks like most of the good reliable rigs are already covered in other posts
  5. I thought one of the key reasons for corn being so successful is its high in lysine , the natural sugars do play a part as well but these are fructose based (I think). Betaine is created through an extraction process on sugar beet
  6. Good Skills that man, there is plenty more of that size in there
  7. Ooooo a social that I might be able to attend
  8. Cheers for the info Nige, he has purchased a nice set of waters with 1 housing one of the biggest fish in the district
  9. FYI if you are coming from Preston Wyreside is closer and they are both just off the motorway though wyreside is just off 33 and borwick off 35. And most importantly tight lines
  10. It does appear to have changed hands recently but seems to be still open from what i can work out although its not very clear weather it is open every day, I can't seem to find a number you can try before you set off. Failing that you appear to be allowed 1 well behaved dog on the Wyreside complex of lakes, a snippet from there rules http://wyresidelakes.co.uk/wyresidenew/fishing/
  11. Jimmys lake on that complex does have some very big carp in it for the area
  12. Link above There are several waters on that complex which one are you thinking of fishing, there is another Borwick water across the road which was called Terry's but I don't think you can fish it any more.
  13. Hi and Welcome to the forum http://www.borwickfishing.co.uk/ Seem to allow dogs as long as there are kept under control, I am not sure about Wyreside's dog policy as there website seems to be playing up
  14. Is that your taxi out side Beanz
  15. England were very poor, 2nd half goal down and we were just so slow with no movement, Joe Hart's fault we lost routine save that, and as for the owl's management from the sidelines nonexistent. I have defended Rooney this comp but that is the worst 45mins I have seen him play. Iceland deserve it if we are going to play like that
  16. We certainly lack width last night with no rose or walker, when you have a team like Slovakia camped in there final third with the bus well and truly parked you need to stretch the defence to open the space we just herded them tighter together, as highlighted 6 changes 2 or 3 of those have barely played any football this season (sturridge, wiltshire, henderson). Why mass changes it is only a short tournament. Nearly every cross went to the patch of grass at the far post where not 1 red shirt was. For me its the managers fault he setup them up to play that, Woy must have been short of video footage of Slovakia Henderson cant even fill out his voting card
  17. Again a lot of possession but no creativity, final ball again very poor. Will need to improve if we are going to go any further.
  18. This any use to you, all the chub stuff i own is very well made https://www.total-fishing-tackle.com/sale/other-sale-items?manufacturer=52
  19. Have to agree with you Stevo, been our best player has held the ball well and not given it away in midfield, he has been poor for Utd but I think thats more to do with LVG being a loon. As for Kane he looks knackered, as much as I love Harry he looks leggy (he's played nearly 60 games in the last 12 months )
  20. Some belting fish there fella
  21. The best bit of advice I can give you is pop down your best local tackle dealer and go and pick a few up and get a feel for the rod, we have had several budget rod threads and all usually throw up a multitude of different answers and people have found one recommendation better than the other because it feels better for them Personally I can recommend both the Fox Warriors and Sonik Blacks as good budget rods, others have found the Shimano Tribals excellent value. With regards to test curve I will leave it for the lads that fish the method feeder on a more regular basis, but im guessing that it will depend heavily on the sixe of feeders you intend to use
  22. The old bunch of worms under a bubble float
  23. This is the reason I shy away from busy waters, it comes at the expense that i don't get to fish fro the bigger fish in the area but nothing winds me up more than knowing where the fish are, paying good money and being able to get nowhere near them. Sounds like a pretty good back up plan to me
  24. I think from what you have been describing and how busy the lake is you need to move on any opportunities you get, just think of it as learning rather than a blank as I am sure if that happens again you will be packed up and round to the vacated swim if it gives you an advantage
  25. So its clear from what you have posted they seem to like a fresh SW wind, im guessing those swims around the point are the most popular
