  1. Hi gents,

Long time no speak! so i need to make some pop ups, im still with Urban Baits so i have brought some base mix, Will add a little bit of neat nutcracker flavouring, I have brought some cork balls..... But my questions is around eggs, I have seen people mention egg albumin, Should be i be using this as well as eggs? Whats it for.....and just wondering what the boil time is roughly? Thanks guys

  2. So, Its time to come out of the closet....i have never really floater fished for Carp in the 30 years i have fished. BUT...im now fishing a lake where its going to be a strong method through the summer and i can also fish a little during the day/early evening SO:

Any advice or tips?....what dog biscuits should i be using now a days? Should i be using something else.... Should i be rubbing my vaceline down my line instead of my.....lips!

I will be buying a 4th rod for this, Any recommendations on a good floater set up? 12ft/10ft.....

    THANKS ALL!

  3. Hi,

So probably should have mentioned his 4...so same bivvy really. Need to be able to get 2 beds in and a little bit of space between (little way) so he can play if its raining! We have a 2 man Abode, Great bivvy but the beds have to be side by side which takes up the whole bivvy...He has an adult bed.....daddies cast off!

  4. Hey all,

So someone mentioned to me recently her partner was fishing Elmstead Res...i have never heard of it, was wondering if anyone had any info? A quick look on google maps shows some big slabs of water so any info of lakes in the area would be useful. Im currently fishing the Match Pit near there so looking to join some waiting lists for when i eventually move on.

For me pellet is a massive no-no with bream about.

They'll eat anything but big boilies and tigers is a good starting point if you're looking to avoid them.

    no nuts unfortunately.

  6. So after a great start on this years ticket (2 in the first few over nighters) i have been on a 2 month blank. Solid bags (pellet and popup) and some spod/throwing stick particle and boilie doing the damage, however this venue has less then 40 carp and a good few hundred bream, this led to most sessions being destroyed by them, so larger baits, crumb instead of pellet in the bag/no bags at all, Less spodding etc etc all the normal stuff, but since then i haven't had a carp...but the bream are still a problem (i have had them on 5ft zigs). So the wife has given me Thursday and Friday night to sort this lack of carp out. Now i fish at least 1 night a week, walk for sometimes 2 hours trying to find and set up on the fish not often finding much (sometimes walking around well into midnight listening. Its only a 6 maybe 7 acre lake so with a flap of the tail they are quickly down the other end so i dont think location is a deal breaker as they move about a fair bit (obviously where possible i will try to set up on them.

I kind of thinking, im going to catch some bream regardless, I can lower the amount of bream with a 22m and 12mm snow man so should i fish and spod a ton of pellet....maybe fish a rod length shorter off to the side of the pellet spot. No pellet goes in the lake due to the bream, both my carp have come from solid bags containing pellet....should i create a bream frenzy and see if that chaos will bring in a few carp to investigate, hopefully nicking one as they investigate the area.....or am i going mad?

  7. Afternoon gents. As im now being destroyed by bream using solid bags i want to have a look at helicopter rigs, I had the korda heli safe kit in my bag, Now the only problem im having is the no trace bead keeps popping off the chod sleeve. Im using lead free leader, Can anyone suggest some good replacement beads that will fit snug? Im flying through the No trace beads, Im assuming flying off on the cast they dont keep tight enough at all.

When I read yours and Gingers' posts , Nick , I felt for both of you , what with Ginger on his Comeback  , and you starting to see the fruits of all your labours .

    So now there's a chance of a new project ? .

Any chance of a PM giving more details of this Suffolk Syndicate , just as long as it doesn't stuff things up for you ? .

    😃

yeah been a turd time. i have spent a while finding "that project", i didnt have any backup so now im just flirting about day tickets (SWP on Thursday night). If you do/can share details Nick feel free to PM me...be a few beers in it for you!

Being kicked off Alton is a bit of a nightmare especially as you had started to have a few again this season. i would be pretty angry about that one!

  9. So finally get back on my feet after destroying my knee and losing a year. I then find a venue to join, Covid hits, the rules relax, I get booked on....Spawning! 2 weeks later i get my first session, Catch one, blank the second and hear the second biggest in the lake 40+ has died (my PB is 37lb and i would really like to beat that this year). the third week i find 1 dead myself, So now 6 so far are dead a 40, high 30's and a double....Venue has now been closed rightfully........God i feel this campaign is never going to get started and i have waited so long!

Just incase this lake does go pair shape and the lake loses the big girl does anyone know of any venues around colchester/clacton or near? I work in Clacton so closer to there the better (current ticket is 5 minutes from work!) im already on CAPS and i dont fancy CAA at the moment. I really want to hunt a new PB, My knee is a bit of a time bomb now so i want to really get stuck into something whilst im able!

  10. My first visit to my new ticket. Took the kitchen sink with me as I had no idea about the lake. Few friendly lads gave me an idea of the lake and its stock (only 40 carp apparently) so I wondered around the lake aimlessly looking for a sign of life. 3 hours later I had picked a swim.  Only to see a fish jump a few swims down so quickly moved the gear down and by midnight I was into my first match pit carp. 32.2lb. Chuffed to get one on the first night.

How did you feel physically , Ginger , any twinges ? .

    😃

Lol thanks mate. Felt great to be fishing, the leg didn't feel great, moving the barrow over slippery ground wasn't great but I can deal with a bit of pain if it means I can feel normal again! Just on the hunt to find a ticket for the year now!
