  1. I will try my best crusian , I spent 2 hours writing up and making it pretty and was within 5 minutes of posting it yesterday when my laptop froze for a minute and it all went off ,laptop nearly went through the window , sorry to keep you in suspenders , I should get a chance this evening !
  2. Since loosing a good size fish to an underwater snag when the drop off system got caught in a v between branches i have wanted to make my own drop off using pebbles, over the last few days in between shopping i think i have come up with something that should be good for margin and bait boat fishing it could be ok for casting long distances with a bit of practice. I will post it up over the next few days , if i can stay sober enough !
  3. thats her armchair ,with chewed arm rests !
  4. It seems that they get more protective and start barking at noises outside and doorbells around 3 to 5 years old ,that's with lab retrievers ! She is only scared of one thing ,that's the ironing board !
  5. labs in my opinion are the best dogs ,all dogs are loyal if treated well , labs are extremely well behaved round kids as in they don't eat them, keeping them from eating the contents of bins , fridges, freshly cooked food ,sheep s##t and other dogs s##t can be a struggle , ive watched 6 grow up from pups in my lifetime the latest is 4 years old ! jumping up can be a problem round kids getting scratched faces especially when they are pups, they just want too lick your face ,they soon understand what a no means when said firmly with a push down . Some listen too you more than others,we had 1 that would always be on the lookout for an open door and would race off to the local river for a swim given half a chance another that was well trained but would love to sneak off upstairs and snap one off in your bedroom in less than 30 seconds ,you would have to sprint off after her to stop her, you would not believe what they eat , I once found an action man arm sticking out of a dump in the garden once and another time she ran into the house with a ball of sewing wool trailing from her butt which she was dragging behind her,we had to cut it off luckily it all came out the next day ! we got a call from the local butcher once that our dog was grabbing things out of shopping bags when leaving his shop and a neighbour once spotted her running up the street with a trail of sausages hanging from her mouth, they read you via your body language and your facial expressions and a few learnt words these are your best way of communicating with them , they will have you sussed before you know it just make sure its you that's boss ! All their personalities have been very different our latest loves playing with party balloons she will play keepy uppy with her nose and carry them round gently so as not to pop them ,quite a sensitive dog with a lot of patience ! only needs telling once . one we had 20 years ago would go to girls who wore a dress and lift their dresses up with her nose and would then give everything a good sniff and would get giddy when they jumped in the air ! cant emphasise how much they love water,if your taking her to some carp waters she is going to be gaggin to get in there. Summer or winter ! treat em right and you have a pal for life !
  6. not from ebay, bought them at recognized dealers, well known! that would hack you off, loosing good fish to dodgy hooks ! how often should you change your hook , after how many fish,i just sharpen mine as needed till ive taken a few mm off the length then I replace them!
  7. had a korda wide gape open up on me last week, not fully though,i still managed to land it but when I looked at the hook it must of been only just,i did have to put a bit of pressure on it to stop it reaching a snag, im now looking for a stronger hook, could anyone recommend anything stronger than korda wide gape ! not "ace razor points" though I snapped one the first time I used them ! thanks!
  8. didn't see this topic when I posted a month or so ago,i was recommended to use these so I did,the first fish I hooked on them the hook snapped in half ! Ive had a few good fish this year,up to 38 lb,the first fish hooked and it snapped my hook,i was not a happy bunny, I went home and tested them in a vice against a few other well known hooks and they seemed to bend and snap very easily, they went straight in the bin, I will never use them again !
  9. whilst on my carp fishing trips around the lot region I have been to various tackle shops for my carp gear and boilies (when im desperate) and as soon as I get to talking to any French person who is any way interested in carp they always ask me if I know anything about their missing carp ,which were taken from the river lot and transported to private lakes mainly English owned from the eighties onwards,is this just a myth or did it actually happen ! we are not just talking about a few 20 lb fish here ,100 's of the best fish 20 -70 lb fish It was actually legal to move fish until a few years ago but now there is a huge fine, but ethically you must be a right scumbag ! One name keeps popping up but I don't want to mention it as I don't know if its fact but an actual team was employed to catch as many as possible and local fishermen were hired also . Last year I talked to an English bloke who was looking for a swim for a session and I mentioned a stretch of the river lot at luzech where when I was on holiday 15 or 16 years ago I hired a villa and the garden went down to the river and by chance I had my fishing tackle in the boot,(mrs wasn't to happy) anyway I saw a group of carp ,4 of them and they were all over 50 lb easily,i reckon the biggest would of been 70lb,this bloke I was talking too said that the biggest few had been nicked not long after I was there. So , im not surprised that a few of the French fishermen view us with a bit of suspicion ,id be a bit cheesed off if someone had deprived me of the chance of catching so many of the best fish .
  10. I have just ordered 25kg lt 94 and a few other things to take down with me ,ive been itching all winter to get back down there,i will be setting off in about ten days, reckon im going to be making a frolic, fishmeal semolina stink in my village in 10 days time ,thanks for fishmeal source that will be handy!
  11. thanks for that ,its confirmed one of next years plans,i didn't manage much fishing after my last post ,2 weeks of rain put a stop to that ,I tried my local damned river (plan B) but even that was to the brim and had a strong flow through it, so I spent a few days with my sonar learning how to map the bottom, cant wait till end of feb till im back on the lot, ive beefed up all my tackle, sonik 3.5 tc rods and bigger reels! If anyone knows where to get good quality fishmeal in france that would be a great help (in the Dordogne or lot region)as at the moment im thinking about taking 50 kg down with me to make boilies! were you using the 30 mm halibut or smaller.
  12. thanks for the quick reply i think im going to bait up my local lake after ive given it a good looking at with my new sonar,(if I can work out how to use it)but I will try the lot before I come back for winter,I will post up some vids and pics when I come back in December,i have a gamvert about 3 miles away in st cere,i will be there on Monday on my way back from the airport,
  13. hello ,ive been fishing on and off for 30 years now,ive fished my local fishery and caught carp to 23 lb,and this year ive decided to have a few goes on the river lot I started with 12 lb line fishing one of the damned sections of the lot just above st cirque lapopie, ive had up to 20 barbell in a session which on lighter tackle would be fun,ive done 1 all night session but no carp, after talking with an English guy who came looking for a place to spend a week somewhere it opened my eyes to how you should approach river carp fishing ,he told me that in this section of the river there is not many carp but the ones that are can often be over 30 kg and i should beef my line up,bring more bait and prebait .he said he would bait up 2 days before with up to 50 kg of boilies, thats a lot of money! i last went down 2 weeks ago with my mate who came to visit i hooked something on my 30 lb line that i could do nothing with ,3 lb tc on my rod with 30 lb line,it felt like someone had tied me to a cow and smacked its arse,it left my hook in a snag 50 yards down river, still no carp, ive been back in England for 8 days now,i return on Monday, November is said to be the best time for carp, the river lot is 90 minutes drive,i recently found out that a damned section of my local river has carp to over 30 kg,at laval de cere ive done 3 short sessions there, nice bream, but no carp.if anyone has any experience fishing the lot from cahors to figeac and could pass on any info that would be great, mainly possible swims,i can spend ages looking for somewhere to fish,im having problems finding fishmeal and soya flour also, ive been to Leclerc and other places but have not found any,i end up taking a suitcase full, like i am this Monday to make my boilies, ive also bought a hummingbird fish finder, mainly for mapping the river bottom for snags n carp hidey holes from my dinghy,im determined to catch a whopper, any help would be much appreciated !
