  1. Sorry it's cheap butane canisters. Which is what CM refers to. The only problem is they don't burn well in low temps. If you're only fishing summer they're fine. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  2. If its about fuel costs, either look for deals. Erics angling do 6 canisters for £18. I bought a number last time I ordered from them. At £3 a canister they are half the price of Halfords etc. The other thing I have done is buy a converter for my Bulin stove, it allows me to use the cheap propane canisters with the stove. They're only good when the weather's a bit better but manage the total fuel cost through the year. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  3. I tied two rigs with it last night and can't say I'm filled with confidence on the material. Had expected it to be stiffer and not have the stretch it does. May not even risk them unless someone comments and gives me a little more confidence in it and it's properties. I've given it a test between rig pullers and it seems to hold up but stretches loads. Will call you tomorrow about the days away. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  4. With the venue in mind, after Monday, looking back, I think in some spots a different rig could give better presentation but only clean gravel. So wanted a few pre-tied.

    Amnesia

I purchased some Amnesia clear in 15lb a while a go. Yeterday I tied my first rig with it. I don't know what I was expecting but have found it has quite a bit of stretch in it. For those that have used it before, is this normal and how have you found breaking strain vs the stated? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  6. I've used the multi rig as you say but with hydro link and removing the inner. Just use a mega buoyant popup so it lifts itself free from the offerings. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Zig rig

I got back this weekend, fishing an easyish venue with my brother. It's only his third time fishing for carp, as he's usually a float or feeder angler. We had 24 between us, 19 coming to zigs or on the surface. We were fishing in 11 foot of water with adjustable zigs, spombing riser pellet and and a small amount of mixers over the top every 15-20 mins. We'd start picking them off with the zigs, then every so often they'd get properly up on the surface and we'd pick them up on top. Most people had a handful of fish but looking around we were picking up the most fish and consistently through the day. We'd find they'd spook after one was caught on the surface but would still pick them up in the upper third on the zigs. We only had one 5 minute spell where the gulls twigged the riser, apart from that, despite flying over constantly they didn't get down on the food. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  8. It probably should read push the hook through and cut below the barb so you have the point out, then the shank comes out easily from the other way. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Zig rig

Mate, I wouldn't use an inline, I did that once as it was the only leads I had on a short session. It came free from the insert and end up bouncing around the line and knocked the fish off. I'd fish zigs on a leadclip and be prepared to hit single beeps, I've found zig takes can be quite strange as the fish has a fair amount of hook link to play with. I'd also try them at different levels, one at 1 foot, one at 2 foot and one at 3 foot and find out which works, then begin to move the others to that length maybe 6 inches apart to refine it. 10. Just seen on the Snowbee website they do clip ons as well.
  11. I was thinking of prescription Costa del Mars that are designed for fishing. Although I checked them out today and with prescription lenses, they're over £300. I'm off to America later in the year and as I'll need to go get an upto date prescription, I may see if they're cheaper over there and pre-order to collect on my travels. I think the Snowbee over glasses were around £20-£30. If I'm wearing normal sun glasses, I'll just wear my contacts but for a fishing situation, they're just impractical.
  12. I have some Snowbee over glasses I bought last year which are pretty decent, there better than any I've had previously and are a fly fishing make, which is probably why they're better. Although I don't think any you find will come as close as proper prescription polarising lenses. I need to go get my eyes tested and new glasses as I stepped on mine the other week. Once I have my prescription I think I'll bite the bullet and get some proper prescription polarising glasses.
  13. Pretty certain it doesn't count.
  14. Also got that weed rake, I managed to pick up whilst leading around. That saved me a bit as was considering buying one of those. ☺
  15. Neal I had one open up on me first time out. Admittedly the fish was in weed and was slowly making its way to the net, so the hold may have slipped and put an abnormal pessure on the hook. I personally wouldn't use them from a confidence perspective if I thought the hook would be tested.
  16. Have you tried the hydrolink extreme?
  17. I saw elsewhere someone mention Adam Penning talking about what he has been using recently. Here's a post from his Facebook, where he mentions it. Haven't tried it myself but may have a look at picking one up myself. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=528276817338516&id=100004686062084 Otherwise, you're probably better with an external flash and diffuser to reduce the harshness of the light.
  18. I will say my idea of the wood was inspired by Newmarkets sponge in a swim feeder. The reason I recommended wood, is that a lot of sponges are made of plastic and so aren't particularly environmentally friendly. There are biodegradable and natural sponges out there though.
  19. I would think maybe plugging with something bio - degradable and natural that would take on liquid attractors. Something like cork or another porous wood. It should over time decompose and I wouldn't think it would be damaging to the environment. although I'm not an expert. Another suggestion would be to fill it with boilie paste or maybe Belachan block, cut and squeezed in to fill it. Both would I imagine gradually break down. If you want it the attraction to last maybe add the porous material into the bottom 15mm and the remainder fill with your other mix.
  20. If I was to guess, I'd say the third. It has nothing to do with picture quality though as to why I'd say that.
  21. This might sound daft but when you say the lock switch is set to "off" you're not referring to the way the power switch is labelled? I would think the lock goes the other way?
  22. I'm with Nige that you'll only get good results with a camera. If you're stuck with the phone, you could try softening the flash. Something like white tissue paper can be used but will be a pain on the bank. You want something that will let light through but not in such a harsh way. If they're still a little dark try turning up the exposure. You should generally be ok without a flash in the day.
  23. Out of curiosity why would you use shrink tube? It would make it difficult to remove the hook and change it in my opinion. Which is one of the main reason I use it.
  24. Nm you should go into detail as that makes good reading on a forum. I'm not certain but I don't think enzymes die? I thought they were either active or not depending whether their temperature and ph conditions are met and you may not need them active all the time. I'll check it out though.
