  1. You stand as much chance of catching of st johns as you do on any other linear water. It aint to difficult. As for brasenose its just stuffed full of wrong uns!
  2. The way id approach linear is to think which lake i most want to fish which is for me St Johns or Manor, have walk around them first if i find fish and can get on em great if not then my next choice be Hardwick same again if not Oxlease and so on. If your going for social proberly wouldnt go to Linear though because the chances of been able to fish near each other are slim most times you be lucky to get on the same lake if theres more than two of you! Check Ochids out far quieter nice lake nice fish not as many bigguns but still plenty of decent fish id say its far better if a few of you are going.
  3. Agreed i use bolt rig for most of my fishing but that would be in any baiting situation weather its a spread of boilies or tight bed of particle.
  4. I mite be missing the point but dont see the difference between using a running lead over a bed of bait or using it over spread of boilies. When the fish get prickd by the hook they run weather its a running rig or fixed rig. Personally i think people who say useing running rigs over a bed of particle dont work as good or useing semi fixed rigs are better, are as useal looking far to much into things and making it needlessly more complicated than it needs be. But thats modern carp fishing for you! That aint to say that running rigs and fixed rigs wont sometimes outfish each other if ones been to done to death and the other hardly been used then the it would possibly make differnce. But baiting situations bed of particle or spread of boilie dont come into it imo!
  5. Whats running away going to acheive apart from failure? I have atually made some progress on the lake i fish that they RENT thats bout all they do though. The lake in question is with out doubt the jewl in there crown but they dont even realise what they have. Luckily the bailiff on there sound and there is progress been made. slowly but surely! The lakes that have got problems ie. overstocked, Litter, over pruning, poaching ect i dont fish them not for a long time anyway the thing that annoys me is some of these lakes have bags of potencial with rite management. Thankfully the two decent carp waters they have are been left alone at the moment but they on bout getting rid of the weed on the one, becuase the commitee members dont want to tench fish in the weed and thats there attitude. Destroy Not Preserve! Should be there moto.
  6. most clubs are the same TAA my local club has a few disasters waiting to happen! The people who run it secutary, chairman ect are on different planet there proper numties with no fishery management skills wats so ever! The lakes and stokes are there but the lakes need complete over haul to reach there full potential and stop disasters happening!
  7. When the weather like it is at the moment catch over 50% of my fish free lineing . Tie a hook on main line, some bread floating or slow sinking job done.
  8. pot noodle carp are carp that are carp that are stocked at big weights or gain big weights with in few years. instant big carp! And the way otters are going they are desimating waters all that will be left will be lakes that have otter proof fencing! as ci said thats a different issue.
  9. Just bin down local lake to find out its been polluted with simmos only a few but aint the point. The original fish are all stunners and to me it feels as if they spoilt the heratidge of the fish in there. Sadly this seems to be common place up and down the country to stock the things. In years to come i fear the fast growing lumps with no propa history or character will be all thats left. It seems there to much demand for pot noodle carp! As long as there a fence that is so the otters dont get them but thats a different issue.
  10. sure it will come togever mate stick at it ,and let us no when you bag a biggun.
  11. Would concentrate on location more than worrying about rigs, keep it simple standard hair rig on clip or running lead . keep your eyes peeled and stay mobile.
  12. Anybody no anything about the stock of sulby?
  13. Anybody no what the stock of this lake is?
  14. if you find such a rig let me no becuase as far as im aware no such rig exist. wouldnt go down the choddy route because its far from a take anyware rig like anythin it has a time and a place. keep things simple and change accordingly ie:rig legth, hair legh, lead size ect.
  15. aint up to date with all this carp forum lark just commentin on things of intrest to me.lol
  16. The only thing that makes trench difficult is layziness. If you stay mobile and find the fish there wel catchable it aint an easy water but effort equals reward.
