  1. In other words he has took all the charm out of the place, sorry jemsue had just previously looked at something else on the net but this is the pool in question, damn shame was an idilic little pool just hope it doesn't turn into another plain hole in the ground. All it wanted was the pegs refurbing and the removal of the downed tree if it really needed that doing.
  2. Does anybody know when Leighton pool reopens in Leighton buzzard, it was closed for a refurb.
  3. Hi guys, Coppice pool has suffered a major fish kill due to low oxygen levels and coinciding with spawning. Had a drive up yesterday and it was a heart breaking sight, large carp and bream floating on the surface and hundreds of roach from a few onces to 2lb all belly up. They had just 2 pumps for the whole pool both sat in the same area, god sake get to tool hire and hire 10 of them. So much funds and not a clue how to put them to good use, there was also one man on his own in his 60's trying to remove all the dead fish, put something on the website asking for members to lend a hand. BAA's out and out carp what....well run it like one then! Sorry for the rant but truly horrendous scenes which I am not surprised to see I am afraid, just hope some of the big girls survive, rumour has the big mirror has been sadly lost which is a big big shame. Shaun.
  4. Those were the winter prices which only run to 1st March. Fished the Meadow Wednesday through till Friday morning with a mate off the point swims, we had a total of 9 fish between us including a 18lb 12oz ghostie. The fish still aren't feeding properly yet, the takes we where having were only single bleeps and very minimal movement on the bobbins which we were hitting. As for the lake you fished as it is 6ft in places and mildish temperatures they were sitting in the top 2 feet of water when we had a walk around on Friday, did you try zigs or not. I have witnessed some nice fish come out of that lake and somebody hook into a cat which was lost. Like I said they were really finicky bites they weren't ready to start climbing up the lines not yet anyway lol.
  5. Hi guys, has anybody got any info on the hartlebury castle syndicate. I have the number for the chap that runs it and apparently he used to live close to me but I don't think I actually knew him. It looks a nice lake I just wondered if anybody has any info on the place, it's only a 5 min drive from my house so would be a perfect venue. I am told the stock is low and run to mid 20ish which I am used to with the 2 club waters I am a member but sadly the consevationist do goody council are taken these pools away and turning them into conservation areas
  6. Hi guys, have just decided to renew my baa card after a 5yr break. Looking at going to coppice lake this thursday, has anybody fished it lately? This is 1 pool I never fished when I had my card before but have fished the rest when match fishing with a club. Googled it and I get the impression it gets rather busy and have seen the recent pictures of some decent fish coming out. Going to try and have a drive out there before I go up just to see how busy it is during the week and get a fell for the place. I have looked on google earth and the only pool in the area is one with an island so I am hoping this is it. Cheers, Shaun.
  7. Hi guys, has anybody fished on Welford Pools lately. Going at the end of the month for the first time, just wondering how it fishes this time of the year. Cheers, Shaun.
  8. Not Yet! Looks a decent place, lets hope someone on here has and gives us a few remarks. It looks like someone has got hold of it and are trying to produce a well run fishing complex by looking at it they are all most there, got a session coming up soon could be the place to go.
  9. You are right beza, just looked on google earth and i was in peg 6 hoping to get down next month if possible, I will let you know when in case you are there . I will make sure I get decent picture out of you and I will put the kettle on or throw a nice cold beverage in your direction.
  10. Hi Paddy, Fished it a couple of times towards the backend of last year also on peg 9. I took 2 fish during the 48 hrs i was there the first time one of 18 lovely looking old mirror during the day then a common of 20lb 2oz on the night. You need to get as close to the bushes to your right as possible. If you have a bait boat you can actually drop your bait nearly 3-4 feet under them. Another place to try is a tree in front of you off the island whch grows right on the edge of it, drop a bait about 2-3 feet off it. Hope this helps, you really need to talk to bezza on here he is up there quite a bit, I met him up there last September, offered to help with the photo bless him but he was the other side of the pool so didn't want him to have to reel in his rods. Fool I know it was a lovely looking mirror Took my fish on SBS M1's and on Solar Quench pop-ups fished aboout 1" off bottom up close to the right side bushes. Tight lines, Shaun
  11. Thought he would, can't blame him to be honest with the money he has spent the last 2 years. I have always caught on fishing boilies only anyway so no odds to me, tried fishing over pellets once before but they seem to get preoccupied with small food items. Just a pva bag of crushed boilies now and again just to help to create a scent trail I dont really put many boilies in either maybe 50 or so in 12 hrs and always before dusk when they start to move back down to the dam after spending most of the day up towards the island. You can almost set your watch by them you start to see them boshing out closer and closer to the dam wall as the light level falls as they know a shed load of bait will be going in before it gets dark. I also try and stay away from the dam wall too I tend to faver pegs 2 and 3 roadside and the dug outs canalside, that way i can intercept them on their way from end to end. Hopefully with the new introductions they should disperse more evenly across the pool.
  12. Fished the runs water Sunday for a day session but struggled with the cold North Easterly blowing across the pool . Nobody had anything off the speci lake while we were there but a couple of good fish came off on Friday including the big mirror that was stocked last November, take a look at the website. Nick is doing a great job up there, there has been 2 stockings of fish ranging from 17lb upto 31lb over the last 2 years which I think was a total of 30-40 fish maybe more. My biggest to date was a mirror of 26lb 10oz and a 31lb cat I also broke my 20 up there so it's a good well run fishery. Boilie wise any quality bait will work, my fish have always come SBS M1 and the their worm boilies. Like I said take a look at the website, good value for money, quality fish and some of the cleanest and comfortable pegs going.
