cant get the wife into the bivvy. lol. but persuaded her and my son to stay in a lodge over the spring bank holiday. found one with nice new lodges just being finished and previously under fished lakes in cotswolds. used to have the rainbow end syndicate on there. anybody know the lakes ?
hi nigel. where you going to kip ? in the bivvy or in the lodge. night fishing or days only.
me and a mate take the families with us on "our fishing holiday" (only uk so far) and they try and turn it into a beach break. you have to be strong. lol
thanks.
done a bit of editing to original post. watchd the link you put on and he does it different. havnt worked out yet if its the same. it also looks the same as what "dan" calls the whipping knot , but the way he holds it it looks far easier and ill try it next.
was wanting to try some stiff link rigs instead of chods so got on the old youtube . found mr hearns on there and liked his use of the snaell knot on the hook end.dont know if it was because i was only using size 10 choddy hooks (as opposed to his 4s) but it was not easy.any one else use this knot rather than the knotless ? was using ultima 22lb powerstiff but it was very easy to mark it when pulling up knots etc. what do you use for your stiff/choddy hool link.
anybody done a week on the bishop which can be hired for 6 anglers.no price on website but sounds ok. how much would you pay for a uk lake with 30s in it.
ive got a free 24hrs on linear and will extend to a 48hr session.would prefer to get into some fish and take whatever size comes along if that makes sense. which lake/pit would you go for ?
hi doug,
email links working fine. im looking around for suitable . how fussy (lol) are you. so many places are commercial if you know what i mean, and im still happy to catch doubles and twentys , if its good and a challenge .
finally caught some fish on the 12lb pro-carp. nothing massive but fish to mid doubles. not had a chance to do any real casting with it yet and did have a slight issue with line twist after the first mid double ghostie took me on a right old run round. this then gave me a chance to stick on and try the gardner line twist remover. worked ok considering i didnt have a lot of water to cast round. going to use it again this weekend and straighten the line right out properly.(looks/sounds gimicky, but works).
back to the pro-carp. one down side . lol managed to overcast onto the island foliage and get me hook stuck. shish! it took some right old pulling to get something to give way.bam lead hurtles towards me at 100mph. 15lb braid hook length had given out not the pro-carp. the bs must be well over 12.
will comment again after a 48hr session this weekend
anyone got any answer on this one. have looked at the "pads but was put off by all the mention of lots of weed. lots of info on sandhurst in the social thread but no one seems to mention the southlake much ? is it weedy too ?
my mate and i did the 48hr session on the specimen lake and another mate joined us for 24hrs. between 8 rods we only had one run and 1 fish. a nice 22lb common (caught by my mate). not much happenned on all the lakes we heard .quite small lakes (ponds) but well kept and good facilities. didnt seem to be the size (eg 4 acres for the speci) stated in the advertising blurb and at 65 quid on the dear side in my experience of local waters. would probaby give it another go in warmer weather but have heard it gets rammed.
roll on the spring
