  1. Your decision should be made based on what the carp are up to buddy. If they're stacked up in a given area personally I think it's way more effective fishing as a team to set up either side of them or opposite one another. You can bounce the fish off one another. Personally I think 6 rods on top of them will likely push them out.
  2. I apply wax to my sharpened hooks to inhibit rust so i can't imagine wax on the floss would have any impact.
  3. Likewise. Real shame though. That fish was right up there in its prime. One of the best.
  4. I have a mate that tests for them. He catches plenty. Decent bait by all accounts.
  5. Any old fluoro leader buddy. I think @greekskii rates the wychwood stuff? Fox and korda do purpose made line savers. Defo worth getting.
  6. I have. Handy when they're showing over heavy weed with a leader ban in place. Trick is to find out exactly how deep the weed is - you want it as close to the lead as possible without compromising presentation, otherwise there's not enough weight/interference to set the hook well (you get aborted takes and fish falling off as soon as you hit the rod). Given the choice I'd use lead-core or fluoro but not essential.
  7. I'd take the BS with a pinch of salt @greekskii. What I'd call a poor 0.38 line breaks @ ~17-20 and a good'n breaks at ~ 20-22. The HD goes 21ish so it's underrated and I'd almost guarantee you the PB is over-rated on BS.
  8. You need an intervalometer buddy. Best 12 quid you'll ever spend.
  9. I'm getting the same error.
  10. I agree Rob. Early spring was a nightmare, those cold easterlies kept killing it. But after that mega hot period allowed the water to warm up properly the easterlies have done us a favour imo. Lovely warm days with changeable fronts coming in intermittently has meant if I've been able to get on them they've been very catchable.
  11. I forgot that was the thought of the day thread!! Sorry lol
  12. I know the chap that landed that 100 lb cat from Bluebell Swan on a zig (10 lb hook link). Mental.
  13. That is ridiculous mate, it would certainly offend me too.
  14. Yes you can buddy..... it's a tough decision and a relatively big one at that. You don't buy new reels every day of the week eh.... All great reels. They're ugly, heavy, noisy..... but they last forever. My mate got a set of the C14's. When he got back off his first session with them the bail arm on one had bent in the rod bag. He hadn't dropped the bag or anything. Typical Shimmy imo.... amazing out of the box, don't stay that way. Daiwa in comparison aint great out of the box, but they stay in that same shape for years, and years, and years, and...... The only shimmy I'd get is either the old Long Cast (which I had until even they died after about 6/7 years) or the Tech Mags but they're ££££££££££££........................ The newer lightweight reels from both shimmy and Daiwa are light because they're made from plastic.
  15. I did replace them buddy with SS3000'S. The three are down to 1.5 tonnes now😜
  16. I'd keep the BR's for when the c14's fail after a couple of seasons😲
