  1. Well if it works as well in practice as jm SAYS it does , bearing in mind he's waving em about in mid air and NOT in underwater conditions then a light lead should be fine . I'm a bit sceptical about it tbh , i would have thought the principle of "the fish moving the lead to prick the fish " would work better with heavier leads . Then of course there is the age old question of whether the carp use the weight of the lead to eject the rig ? No such doubts (imho) with running set ups ...
  2. I go along with what milky says mate although i tend to use running rigs/leads only . Just think indication is so much better . Re inlines , take a look at joe morgan's inline set up/explanation on you tube . Good article & plenty of food for thought.
  3. Yeah i still use em where practical matey
  4. Thats what i do mr adders . Shrink tube over the top of the join will keep it in place ...
  5. Hi lads , anybody got any recent or up to date information about this gaff ?

    Ssshhhhhh ! ....so do i
  7. That would be one enormous sack. You'd struggle to get that elephantitis ridden sack home Thats my buisness
  8. I can just imagine it now . Me on the bus carrying 50k of boilies
  9. Thats what i was after nige , i too cant find YOUR original thread but it was the pics and chod bead comments i was after so happy days cheers
  10. Yeah mate you could be right though it wasnt apparent at the time . I've been looking for your choddy set up thread but i cant find it . Know the one i mean ?
  11. Yeah nige i remember that thread . Quite a good one too though i also remember being a bit unhappy at the time because i thought the opening post was a little demeaning towards newbies/inexperienced carpers that were asking "idiotic" questions etc . We all had to start somewhere and if you dont ask then it cant be explained to you . Nick , korda sinkers Always open to any bits that will improve the rig/set up though .
  12. Right ok i got it now . A "chod bead" is supposedly to fix (in avid's case) or semi-fix the actual hooklength to your mainline/leader/tubing and what nick is saying is that one of these in your set up minimises the risk of a cut off due to abrasion from gravel or snaggy bottoms kinda thing ? I've been fishing my chods (sorry nick) naked , so to speak , for a long time now ever since i saw tom dove using it a few years back using 4mm rubber beads semi fixed to those little korda stop thingys (the name of which escapes me in conjunction with one of those large eye swivels so that the rig can move freely up & down the line . Never had a problem yet but its got me thinking now ... Like the look of those weighted avid beads . Anyone use em ? Would using these do away with the need for me to put putty on the swivel ? Or is there no real need for it ? You got that reply in just as i was writing this mate
  13. Yep emm & john you are both quite right but i just cant get my head round why people feel the NEED to have to take 40/50 kg of boilies with em ? Milky has tried to explain to me why, and i know that these huge fish can eat you out of house & home quickly but how do you know that the geezer who was in that swim before you , for example , didnt stick 50k of cell in the lake and blank for a week ? What is your 50k going to acheive ? I know its on a much smaller scale but if you turned up at a lake in this country on a monday , knowing the lake had been filled in over the weekend , who would fill it in again ? Or who would put in a little bit of bait at first and then build it up slowly in accordance with how much action your getting ? Especially if you have a week there .or have i got this all wrong and this is what most people do anyway and they HAVE to keep pilng the bait in ? I have a feeling i may have answered my own question there lol
  14. Wholeheartedly agree . The gardner chod rigs are equally fine . Anyone got a pic or link to one of these chod beads though ?
  15. So how is it different then ? Apart of course , from the holiday aspect ? Wonder how many people would get the ump if they found out a carp they caught in france was english bred ?
  16. Nick , is that the reason why most chod rigs are constructed with one of those swivels that have one huge ring and one little ring ? Allowing for more freedom of movement and therefore less abrasion ? Being honest , i dont think i even know what one of these chod beads looks like ...
  17. Thank you for that . As i said , i've never been so i didnt know . I do now . Im surprised you do milky . I recall that on another thread recently , you said that you generally fish 24hr sessions . Are you not simply pre-baiting for the anglers that fish after you have left ? Apologies if that wasnt you . Just as a side note and trying not to hijack the thread , but i always read how a lot of people disapprove of carp (legally) imported from the continent into this country and refer to them as wrong uns etc then at the first oppurtunity they are off to france to try & catch their brethren ? Weird !
  18. How would you know ? I hear that you cant even remember 'em ?
  19. I cant speak from experience because i've never been but i think the lads might be saying that if cell is what they see all the time it might also be the bait they are suspicious of . As a side note , do people REALLY pile in 30+k of boilies a week over there ? Why is it neccessary ? You wouldnt dream of it in this country so why ?
  20. Rig im fishing with as i post this There's a size 8 swivel just out the picture . Iq2 with a very small bit of supernatural at the hookend including the hair which has a snowman presentation or a weighted down pop up on it .note the ridiculously angled shrink tube on the wide gape. Fishing in silt at the moment and its worked well for me recently.[list=]
  21. I'll probably get shouted down for saying this but i dont think that fishing pop up in a solid bag is the way to go. Imo (and there will be differing ones) a short 3 or 4 inch supple braided rig with a wafter OR pop up , with a shot to balance it on the deck, on the hair. To me , a pop up hovering above the freebies sticks out like a sore thumb . Depends on competition for food and how the fish feed i spose but i'd be wanting me hookbait to blend in with the bags freebies ? But thats just me . Welcome to the forum by the way .
  22. right first time john boy ...
  23. I'll add mine in the morning when its daylight . Its a bit chilly here tonight and i have a date with two pot noodles , a cup-a-soup and mike wilmott's carp life
