  1. Well Clay is usually pretty firm so if it's a clear and clay bottom a bottom bait would suffice (to me) for starters . Everything else depends on how paranoid you are re rig camouflage . What colour is the Clay (there are several possible types) ? You WILL find a braided hook link to match the Grey and Reddy/Brown varieties amongst the Sufix range . I know as I own them although the names escape me at the mo but a quick google of their range would do the trick . But then again you won't get better camouflaged hook links than one made from mono or Fluorocarbon ? As for lead arrangements , each to their own but to me less is more and even more unobtrusive is a simple running lead on your mainline rather than a bloomin' great lead clip and semi-fixed lead . Again it all depends on how clear the water is and how paranoid you are re rig camouflage .....
  2. I'd be inclined , in that case, to have a butchers at the Tacklebox line test chart to determine the tie breaking strains and diameters of well established lines . But if I was "upping " my artillery I wouldn't be considering Fluorocarbon as it usually breaks well below the stated b.s's and is like tow rope
  3. Hi Adam may I ask the question why ?
  4. I have one Muft . Never used it in an actual fishing situation but I have had a cast or ten over my local park lake a few afternoons when practising my spodding and it's much better than a Spomb imo , opens every time , the pigeon grub I was using doesn't get in the internals like a Spomb and casts really well . It was recommended to me by Mik ( Carprecheur) and I'm glad I invested in one whilst I had the spare cash . Also Dal swears by his .
  5. Thanks men
  6. Pardon me fellas . I've read the last few posts and having difficulty following it . Phil or Adam , the reason for tubing as opposed to naked is ? Humour me
  7. I reckon float legering a heavily ground baited margin is the way to go young man . Maybe even the above utilising a swim feeder of some sort or a baitdropper .
  8. I'd be interested in this too . Then people can sing "6 eyes a jolly good fellow" to me instead
  9. Could NEVER take my Lab fishing . I can only take her walkies when I KNOW nobody else will be around .....and if there is I have to walk another direction or cross the road . I can see the headlines in the Grays a Gazette now . " complete stranger licked to death by Labrador pup". Blink in' things are a pain in the bum but I wouldn't swap her for anything . Well , not much
  10. A few words of wisdom from mr Moors .... http://www.carp.com/topic/6351-running-leads-leaders-and-a-flying-backlead/?fromsearch=1 As I said to Gagna , anyone who is relatively knew to this game can do a lot worse than use the search for lots of his posts . Keith if your reading this , come back to us lol
  11. . Hello Neal mate hope you & yours are well I know it's way off topic but since you brought it up Carpology did Boilie tank tests on loads of companies baits . Going back 4 maybe 5 years ago now , they tested 4 each issue if I remember rightly and , I'm not sure , but I think Simon Scott may have been involved ? Some terrific articles , with pics of the carp munching etc , but I dunno maybe they are available online ? An email to Carpology couldn't hurt ?
  12. I agree with every one of the pro-running set up posters for all the reasons They've mentioned . I try to use as light a lead as possible usually 1.5 Oz or lighter I see what Philip means by needing a heavier lead to keep the lead still on the take but I would just like to say that , on the take , a light lead bumps along the lake bed to a degree , helping with the hooking process and negating the need to actually physically strike . It's something I picked up on from reading Moorsey's posts on here from a few years back , he's a strong believer in Running set ups with slack lines and , Gagna , you could do a lot worse than search some of his posts on here mate . Imo Keith Moors = top angler . I could be wrong but I even recall him posting about confidentially using running rigs in weed . I shall be searching for that one myself now lol
