  1. When there is enough current to move groundbait downstream from where it's placed I sometimes cast my hookbait downstream as well in the belief that carp will be approaching from that direction as they detect the bait, and that hopefully some of the older and wiser ones will be eaitng particles that they know have tumbled down freely from where the main pile is. Sometimes it works.
  2. Thanks for the report Angel, nice looking place, very "fishy".
  3. No Christmas music until December - I'll hand out warning points!
  4. Halford v Skues on fly fishing, and the argument that it is unsporting to use any other approach than a dry fly in a natural drift, and angled from the bank.
  5. Welcome to the forum, and good luck.
  6. Wow! I was a fan of the alien pipes before but Grunhilde really bends it! Thanks Levi.

  8. They were designed so a live baitfish could be hooked through the back and allowed to swim freely, hence the name, bait runner (which Shimano patented), and a lot were destined for saltwater fishing. My 6500 would be a great reel for sharks, and that whole series featured waterproof drag so they could be rinsed. I don't think carp anglers were even considered at first, they just picked it up, but I could be wrong. In any case I think they're great.

  10. I like my 10000 XTE-A's but you'd be lucky to find a set in new condition now. They do pop up once in awhile though.

  13. Nothing wrong with dreaming. Ask somebody at Fox if they ever made them, I found them extremely helpfull and friendly. They're losing business to Gardner if someone wants a set of white ones so if they haven't made them maybe they should. Sent from my SM-T210R using Tapatalk

  16. Welcome to the forum, 2.75 tc is generally accepted as the standard all round weight for a carp rod, but if you're going to be using method feeders all the time and fishing at distance you may want to consider a 3 lb tc. A good 2.75 rod will do it, so personal preference, matching suitable reels comes in and here is where visiting tackle shops and playing with their merchandise is useful. Make a few friends on here and go fishing and look at their stuff, could save you some time.

    Aviary .

They all look so tasty, they're very cute, and at least they're warm blooded, but I can't help thinking of pies. [emoji1] Sent from my SM-T210R using Tapatalk
  19. Mr DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.
  20. Now I see, I didn't look close enough before and thought it had a wheel. Vast improvement over a stack of coins perched on the spool over a coffee can.
  21. With that deep notch it's almost like built-in snag bars.
