  1. That's sad news Malc, but i'm not surprised. Merrington is a good venue for socials, good fish, facilities & it's central to a lot a anglers. Can't say i blame Elaine though, it's just such a shame that mindless idiots ruin it for the majority. How long befor it becomes a syndicate????
  2. Haven't a clue, but i've found a number if you want to call them. 01746 763255
  3. First thing i'd do is have a look on Google Earth. It won't answer all of your questions, but it may fill in a blank or two.
  4. I've got a great little place by me. It's got a hot water inlet from a factory & there's no boat traffic. If you have anywhere like this near to you it would be a good place to start. Also look near pubs. You'll often see people feeding the birdlife & carp like a free meal too.
  5. I've moved this into the correct section. There's a bit of info here. Hope it helps http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=34983
  6. check out cabbages first post......he,s askin you, so spill....lmao Check out the date of that post. I suspect he knows by now
  7. Leadcore has so many potential risks involved (to the fish) that it's just not worth using. The common held belief that it "hugs" the lakebed is completely wrong. If you're worried about concealing the rig, try slack lines with a blob or two of putty on it. It won't lift off the bottom, keeping it away from the fish. Have a search for death rig (click all terms) you'll be horrified at the damage even supposedly safe leadcore can do.

    leaders

Unless i'm going for 110 yards plus, i never use a leader. As a general rule i fish straight through.
  9. If the leadcore kinks just behind the tail rubber, the lead will not release.
  10. You're right about one thing. It'll certainly be exclusive
  11. Jaws is a great read, the first chapter is brilliant. Rats was ok, as were Lair & Domain.
  12. This will help with the photos http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=36721
  13. Im like those kind of books mate, lend me one one of the times? Remind me, & i'll bring one Saturday
  14. I usually steer away from fishing books. I much prefer Dean Koontz, Richard Laymon or the like. If you're into horror/fiction, you must read The Bad Place or Intensity (both by Koontz) I have read these many times over the years, they are that good
  15. From what ive heard of the other pools none of them are runs waters, dont know where id have to slit myself for it to be my throught either? Not to mention, the only place to stay is in your bivvy. Unless Tony rents rooms out now?
  16. That's good to know (the thaw, not the blank) Cheers
  17. I think you've read that wrong. There are 35 Carp in the lake, the biggest being a near 30. Of these 35 carp, at least 10 are 20lb+. Seems reasonable to me.
  18. Are you looking for a lodge, a cabin, Butlins with a lake, or is Nan spending a week bivvy bound?
  19. He certainly is energetic. Must be all that sugar in the alcohol. He's going to kick my butt for that one, but it's worth the risk
  20. It's one of my favourites, but it can't possibly be as good on screen as it face to face. I'm sat here with a big stupid grin just thinking about it
  21. Don't take the micky out of the Gorillas, it upsets the Rhino. Malc (Mach3) can fill you in on the details, he knows the Rhino personally
  22. I've just done a search for Rookery Meadow & there's very little info. Hopefully some of our newer members may be able to help you.
