  1. I would stick with what they have seen a lot of as any new bait will take a while before it dominates a water.
  2. Although I have not fished the lake but fished Mehdi's other one across the road 2 years ago in march I had a walk around it. Most of the fish were taken at range to small amounts of bait. Mehdi stocks Quest bait and a lot goes in during the season and I would suggest you try that bait initially. Contact Bridget at Anglinglines for Mehdi's email address and he will be able to give you more info.
  3. Most lake owners stock a bait which is popular and that they can make money on. I fish a lot in france and have used premier in the past but now use Quest Rhaja spice or Irish Cream. If the lake has a freezer take the fresh baits if not take the lightly preserved ones.
  4. I have found that a running lead with a large ring swivel (Korda) provides better indication and also not to use any form of fly back or back lead. Open water with little weed fishing try Drennan double strength and weedy areas Trilene Xl are both excellent hook links.
  5. I went out there a few years ago and it's in a wonderful location. The fishing was not up to much then as most of the fish were small but that has changed. The lake has been restocked and there are some very nice fish in there now. Heres a link to my very old web site where we did a review http://members.lycos.co.uk/carpoholic/
  6. Was there a few years ago. Have a look at a couple of articles we did on the Angling Lines website. Things have changed a fair bit since then though.
  7. I have sent you a PM'd link to a good cat lake. Paul
  8. Also have a look at the ESP clip. Discharges very well (use the pin provided to secure the swivel). As the clip does not have any grooves the lead will always come off if snagged.
  9. Early April is the earliest I have been and it was a good trip but it depends on how the weather has been in France. Also November can be very good if the weather holds. Anything in between April and November will tend to be more reliable.
  10. There are very few lakes just outside Calais. Valdore is about 11/2 hours but most are 21/2-3 hours from the port. Have a look at the "Sticky" at the top of the page for a few ideas or have alook at Anglinglines website.
  11. A few freinds fished it last year and had a great time........no kids but they did get a fair few 40's and 50's though
  12. Carp R Us Centurions are Ashima 887. They just rebrand them.
  13. This will start you off : http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22185
  14. If it's a loop to your swivel or Korda clip just use a simple figure of eight knot............simple, neat and reliable.
  15. I think this is the lake you are talking about http://www.dreambreaks.info/venue.php?openTo=breaks&break=france&venue=etang_de_pierre I know Shaun Harrison of Quest baits went out there during the autumn. Try emailing him.
  16. Don't have this problem with ESP big T raptors
  17. There has in the past been threads on the water but they got lost off the database.................oops
  18. The Gardner threader will work with tubing but not at 3 ft as its too short. All you can do is to get some stiff mono or wire and attach the braid to one end and pull the Mono/wire through.
  19. I would not drop past the size 10 hook. I use the mag-aligner with 1 rubber grub on the bend and 2 fresh maggots. As far as PVA is concerned the micromesh versions in 4 season are best (I use the Korda large stocking) and fill with a mix of live and dead maggots.
  20. I used IQ 15lb for hook links over my last 2 sessions with no problems. Main line was 15lb Sensor and as they allowed them , Wychwood clear looped leaders.

    epoxy

I work with epoxys. As long as the resin has cured for 7 days at 20 degrees it will be inert.
  22. If you have a cloudy water then it does not really matter. If you want to go for a stiffer rig then use mono or more supple use braid.
  23. The safest rigs are running rigs with a barbless hook. For ease use: Korda running rig Korda safe zone leader (or wychwood ) Nash fang barbless hook Braid or mono hooklink material of your choice. Lead of choice (not in-line) You cannot get much safer than that unless you freeline baits:)
  24. The best knot for lead core or nylon type loop leaders is the figure of eight loop as two strands of mainline link to the leader.
  25. I normally never use barbless paterns but did so recently in France. I used Nash fang b's and uni's and found them very sharp (both were size 6). Also I used Owner barbless which were excellent.
