My preferred go to pattern is Fox SSBP, but I find they work best with a kicker. I wanted to try a simplify things and all the talk of the krank seemed worth a go, also I used to really like Carp R us off set nailers, I just cant cant them at my local these days. so I got pack of kranks.

I wouldn't be put off using kranks if they've been working for you, I think my problems were probably due to needing a few tweaks with the hair but as I didn't want to waste time tweaking or risk losing one next I went back to what Im confident in.

I agree hutch, the twisting was most likely during the fight though I don't think the point ever buried down more like due to the offset point it went through like a safety pin, then as it flipped over side to side during the scrap pierced again etc to create the nipple effect.

Ok so question for the poster how accessible are these spots, example could you view the spot if you covered it with particles. how clear is the water etc....., can you bait those spots regular

If you get to ticks to the above question, find a couple of points in line with markers from where you can cast from, apply a couple of kilo's of hemp with a mix of small halibut pellets every day for about 2-3 days before you are due to fish, if the fish are visiting and munch those spots will start to be become very clean, when fishing apply same loose feed and pop a bait in.

Afternoon, I reckon a bag or big stick will sit on top of what you describe quite nicely.
It will give them something to home in on & protect the hook point & should present your rig fine .

the pop up will lift the hook  clear of any debris. stiff materials i find hard to get short, so if i wanted to have the pop up low to the deck i'd used coated braid,so the stripped hinge was closer the the eye. this is a good rig for pop ups when you want it to look more like a freebie and less blatant.

id only cast that out after i'd done a few tests at home. id worry that the line could cut through the plastic(if line passes over tubing).preferably id just get some ring swivels.

when you say 'fluoro' do you mean boilie colour or line???

as it looks like a mono hook link to me :?which if so wouldnt take on the curve associated with the chod, though will still work, like a zig. and if the main line isnt heavy or fluorocarbon you will need to counter the buoyancy with some putty or shot. but saying that iv not seen a swivel like that and it may have enough weight

one thing is... it looks like the line passes through the opposite way to how i would prefer if it was me. ....it may not its hard to be sure in the pic
