  4. I dont know whether this may help but here is the details of the local fishing federation for that locality. They should be able to help with public waters & permits, Fédération de Pêche de Saône et Loire 123 rue de Barbentane BP 99 Sennece-les-Macon 71004 tel: 03 85 23 83 00
  5. I think we could be ideal as we definitely fit all the criteria. There have been a number of threads on here about us if you do a search then I think you could find some information from members who have been here. Anything you need to know just pm or email me.
  6. Its in Februarys edition of CarpWorld. Our friend John holds the lake record... Good Luck!!
  7. Ken Townley did a big write up on Serenity which I believe was in CarpWorld a few months ago. Will try and track it down for you... but I know he had a great time on there last year so Im sure he can help. Have a great trip ... Ali & Tony are great hosts!
  8. As fishery owners for nearly 5 years it was always our intention to let our passion for Rushes & indeed for France encourage more anglers to come and fish in this beautiful country. The more anglers we, as owners, tempt to France the better for everyone. There is a venue in France for everyone and for every carp angler there is in the UK each has their own opinion of their perfect venue. It saddens me that a thread about us has degenerated in such a way. Method I do hope you find a wonderful place to go where the hosts & the fishing are as good as you deserve. Close the Curtains...I appreciate you being one of our more 'enthusiastic' anglers!!!! & if by 'any connection' Berny well yes maybe...after coming here so often I suppose we do regard him, as with so many of our 'anglers' as friends.
  9. Hi Sturgmaster We are only too happy to answer questions and help prepare you for your holiday. I always tell the group leader that we are only too happy to do this. I dont know about you but the anticipation and being well prepared is always an important part of your week. Anyway hope you have scoured through the net and found plenty of others experiences of Rushes, and we look forward to welcoming you here later in the year.
  10. I bet you are over the moon..... , if I bought the only ticket in a raffle I still wouldnt win!!! You are off on your jollies to Kingshaws then! Whooppppeeee do! p.s. I did feel sorry for you for a millisecond LOL
  11. I thought it was whenever the wife was on an extended shopping trip?
  12. Its not a money thing at all..... Lake owners want you to catch....FACT , so they will recommend bait that works on their lake you can choose whether you buy that bait in the UK or actually at the lake & I am sure that the price wont vary greatly. Lake owners buy bait at trade prices, the same as tackle shops, and will sell them at rrp or maybe less, but we have the logistical problem of getting them back to the UK within 24 hours to freeze. SOME holiday companies have ties with bait companies & will recommend their bait for ALL their venues, although it is highly unlikely to be successful on each & every one of them. I would always advise you to check with the lake directly and get their advice then it is your choice where you buy it from.
  13. Until last September we, as most venues in France, advised our anglers that fish rarely come off the top. To prove us wrong one of our anglers, decided to float & even fly fish which resulted him taking a few nice 20's & a very decent 30.
  14. I would think as this is an Angling Lines venue they should be more than able to help with information and as much help as you should need after all venue owners want their guests to turn up well prepared and ready to catch fish. Their livelihood depends on it. Good luck and have a great holiday
  15. Unlike most I dont send pm's, as it is obvious you would want to get third party recommendations. I think most lakes would do a fly package and if you find a lake you like the look of and they dont specify a fly package email them and ask... I am sure most will bite your hand off! There is a 'sticky' thread at the top of the French section that might help in the meantime hopefully this thread will provide some proper recommendations.
  16. We do indeed have some cats Gordon... upto about 80lbs...
  17. Looking forward to meeting you and your father Mick.... and of course Pete in May! Dont forget the expandable trousers tho
  18. January & February in France can be a bit harsh weatherwise, also some lakes are likely to freeze for at least a couple of days or so during the first 3 months of the year and it makes prebooking a bit of a lottery. Easter is early next year so I think you will find most lakes will open for 22 March, we certainly wont be opening till then.
  19. Depends where you go... obviously
  20. I am presuming you want a smallish lake, as an exclusive for both of you fishing? Have you looked at the 'sticky' thread at the top of this section there are a number of lakes and Im sure will help with your search. Good luck
  21. You just had a very honest answer from me and I would hope most lake owners would do the same... Most lake owners want their customers to catch so it is in their interests to give as much information as possible.
  22. Please make sure you have health insurance! Take teabags French teabags are carp!
  23. Pete... its a good idea to ask the owner of the lake you are going to when they usually spawn. We have been in France so we can narrow down our spawning period to the last week in April. Its a big country and spawning will be different all over, depending on how far south you go and how deep the lake is. But ask the owner hopefully he can give you an informative & fairly honest reply. Although having said all that a hot spell in April, like last year may move things forward a couple of weeks. Hope you have a good trip!
