Use a Standard Knot for attaching the swivel to the hooklink, although you may need to have a play around with the best number of turns to suit you. Amnesia and Greased Weasel both tie best with a Blood Knot, but CHECK AND TEST THEM Before you cast. If you need to change the Hooklink, just cut it off at the swivel rather than cutting the Shockleader! That way you won't need to keep cutting and replacing the Shockleader

Are you talking Hooklink Braid or Mainline Braid? If Mainline then do you really need it? But I would suggest using the Search Facility and typing in Mainline Braid and "search all terms" If Hooklink then use the search facility or mooch a couple of pages down the Rig Tying section of the forum, as there are quite a few threads, loads of different views and opinions.

The Knotless Knot can give you the angle as the Line comes from the inside of the eye, but its not as acute as that provided by Tubing. Shrink Tubing is not always an Essential as Fine Bore Silicon Tubing can give the same effect when fished with a Line Aligner. Its only when you really need to bend the Tubing to increase Hooking potential from wary and Heavily fished for Carp that you need Shrink Tubing

If you add Crushed or Grilled Hemp you can quite literally make the Groundbait explode from the Spod or Feeder

The problem with a Lot of Rigs is that they get used on "wrong" fish. The Bent hook rig was designed for Large Carp on a Particular water. When it got into General Use it was used on every Carp that swam, and the smaller Carp did get terrible mouth damage, not necessarily from being hooked, but the fact that the Hook went in deeply and became very difficult to remove, and in many cases the Hook should have been cut at the shank. I'm not saying its the same, but maybe the 360 rig has the same effects? The Problem with all rigs is that it is very difficult to choose what sized Carp picks up the Bait, even Donkey Chokers (large Boilies), unless you are fishing a water where the Carp are all above a Particular size.

The only thing stopping what you add to Vitalin is your Imagination. Pellets, whole and Powdered, Hemp, Pigeon Conditioner, other Particles, Tuna, other Groundbaits, Bread Crumb, Base Mix, Robin Red, Spices, Gravy Powder, Whole/Crushed/Crumbled Boilies I regularly add Particles to my Vitalin and the best way I have found is to prepare it the night before you use it, easy even on the Bank if you take a Large Bucket of ready Prepared Particles. The water of the Particles gets absorbed by the Vitalin, just play around until you get the right amount to do what you want with it. This mix is soft enough to go in a Spod, or stiff enough to be used as Groundbait and Balled in or Method Fished

I nearly always use a Swivel. It provides a Stopiing Point thats neat and Tidy for my Running Rigs. A swivel also means that I can change the Bare Minimum of Rigs in seconds without having to Cut the Leadcore, as I can get them through the Splice on Leadcore Loop-Loop style. The swivel also means that if a Carp rolls it doesn't create twist. The swivels also provides a point for my PVA Stringers to be looped/tied onto

With the Leadcore on the upper section I don't need to use any putty at all

Problem is where is your lead going to sit on this? If your lead is going on the Weak Link then it negates the Whole Point of the Shockleader. With a Running Lead and the Large Run Ring then the Carp will only be trailing the Leader in the event of a Crack/Snap-off. The run ring will pass over the join. Since its not going to be held tight with anything then its unlikely to Snag. I see what you are saying though, have a swivel/knot attached to your Shockleader at the Hooklink end, then a swivel attaching that to your Shockleader with the Lead running on the Shockleader. In my view it creates another point that is a possible weakness in your Tackle. Just stick to the Shockleader, but make it as Safe as you possibly can

Why don't tapered leaders work for you? For sea fishing I use the orange Daiwa Tournament tapered shock leader on Daiwa Turbo reels I honestly don't know why they don't work for me! I Have used them Sea Fishing as well as Carp Fishing and I continually get Crack-offs. I have tied my own knots and had them tied by a Casting Instructor and Still get Crack-offs. For Sea Fishing The reels I use are Standard Abu Elites, and for Carp Fishing Aerlex's. I can only presume its something to do with my Casting Action?

Hi Mate, I have had Braid put a groove in a Tip Ring. As has been said above, for every ounce of Lead use 10lbs of Shockleader. Sorry if you think this is teaching you things you know anyway, but it may be useful for others as well When it comes to Shockleaders and Knots I always use a Running Lead on the Run Rings (as I do normally anyway). With a Tight Line it acts as a Semi-Fixed Lead anyway. If you want a good Shockleader knot then try this: The normal material I use for Shockleaders is Black Amnesia in 30 or 35lb. It seems softer than the Clear. Or Grey Drennan Greased Weasel in whatever strain required. You may find that the Tapered Leaders available work for you, but they don't for me! Both Amnesia and Greased weasel tie a tidy knot. I do just slightly blob the tag end of the leader with a Lighter to prevent the knot coming undone if there is any slippage, (not that I have had it happen) and also because I don't like a Sharp tag end. Keep the knot to the Back of the Spool when you reel in and it will reduce possible tangles and prevent a large amount of line coming off the spool in a Birds nest on the Cast.

Hooks can go rusty if you Use the Steam from the Kettle to Shrink your Shrink tubing. You have to shake and dry them properly before you put them away or put some Silca Gel in your wallet or Rig Bin. Silica Gel absorbs the moisture.

Use uncooked Hemp and put a needle through as many grains as you want on the hair. Thread them onto a very fine nylon hair and then attach it to the hook. Lee Jackson use to swear by this method.

Leave a hooklink on in the Rod Holdall and the hook nearly always goes rusty. As soon as I get home I put fresh Rigs on, ready for the next trip

Look at the Shrink Tubing from somewhere like Maplins, RS or Electrical Supplies. Its a lot cheaper than that that is sold in the Tackle Shop and is the SAME PRODUCT but unbranded by a Tackle Manufacturer
