What a dire session I couldn't bag a goldfish at this rate don't think that chunk of river water helped to top it the ducks have been hitting my gear without any remorse.

I apologise if I have posted some of this on here before but I thought you might like to see a little piece of recent aerial history.
This is my very first aerial photo of one of the lake I fish.

The shot was taken by a camera dangling below a kite. The camera was taking pictures by intervalometer and the direction was adjusted by radio control. To give an Idea of how this was done take a look at this (rather poor quality) you tube clip.

I then spent a small fortune on one of the very first drones called a Mikrokopter. This had no GPS or stabilisation. You had to actually fly it by increasing and decreasing the speed of each motor.  It was almost impossible to do that AND pay attention to what you were filming. Here is a clip of my very first video taken from my back yard.

Eventually I bought a DJI Spark which I still use today although I would love to buy a new Mavic Mini 2. Even so it discovered my current favourite fishing spot which I keep entirely to myself. This last YouTube clip shows just how useful a drone can be.

The camera is no different to normal camera , without zoom .
So 50 yds away its difficult to recognise a face ,no different if you were to photograph someone at 50 yds

Much safer than a pendulum cast 🙂

Yes you can do that. You'll cast far enough if you need to. I wouldn't do it on big pits though as the undertow will drag your line/hookbait out of position.  As for needing  the lead for  setting the hook as mentioned,  not necessarily.  I use the naked chod and it can run 5ft between lead and top bead. I can honestly say the lead 9 times out of 10 doesn't set the hook, I do.

Must swims it would be impossible to go for a full pendulum with the long drop...  but a half pendulum is doable
I can remember vividly fishing a big sea open comp in South Wales in 1986 over 300 anglers + would attend and on the best marks we all fished close, the big casters would stand well back from the line of anglers and do a full pen but give a warning shout. I was looking at one of the boys winding up for a big cast when his thumb slipped off the multiplier we all ducked and wondered where the lead fell when a fluorescent green shock leader fluttered down and landed across me the lead missed me by a rod length.

Lets hope Pendulum casting NEVER arrives in Carp fishing , otherwise their will be some horrendous injuries.

I have to agree, whereas pendulum casting is commonplace on the beach scene with distance in mind, (although with the current trend of lighter, longer 14-15ft beachcasters, a simple overhead thump can achieve plenty of distance and the pendulum is not as common) such casting practices, such as the full pendulum, half pendulum and OTG (off the ground) casts, designed to “pre-load” the rod tip by causing it to compress into its casting curve before the angler provides the “power stroke” (ooh err missus) which sends the lead further. I’ve used half pendulums and OTG casting styles, and with the multiplier in the reel down position, I could get the lead to really fly! But that was with a 13ft beachcaster, with a t/c of about 6lb! (Rods are rated 4-7oz casting weight) such casts should really remain on the beach, a carp rod, regardless of t/c is not designed to take such high stress/forces that such casting styles put on a rod, even some beachcasters are not recommended for such casting styles, the continental rods of 14-15ft would snap under compression, as would a carp rod sooner or later, that’s if the line didn’t snap before hand, these casting styles always call for a 60lb shockleader on the shore. Most swims wouldn’t have the room for these casting styles anyway I would have thought!

Of course if you continue to talk about such inflammatory and distressing subjects as giving up carp fishing and becoming a match man, I may have to ban you... 😛😛😛

Yeah the wind has been a nightmare all day. Calmed down so re-did the rods a few more spods and all set for the night. 🤞

    It's blooming freezing though🥶

In all the excitement i almost forgot to put the view from my bivvy on the post,  well not a view from a bivvy really more like a view from hiding under the tree's whilst wading around in mud trying not to disturb my swim whilst fishing in the margins..
