  1. Chris Yates fished with tackle that was contemporary to his "back to basic" technique and caught some fish that any angler would be proud to have achieved. Of course the quality of tackle has improved in leaps and bounds but the use of it, the technique, remains, doesn't it? Ian
  2. Blackroot fishes quite well in the colder months, better than the others, anyway. I know that this pool has the least depth of all in the park, maybe this is why it still works in winter? Ian
  3. Same with me. The only exception being when I'm fishing a silt/chod rig. Ian
  4. Reels. Shimano Bigbaitrunner Longcasts. Line. Sufix Synergy 15lb, no leader. Distance. As appropriate, also frequently down the edge. Size of water. Wherever I choose to go. Unless I'm at Horseshoe, then it enormous. Rods. Greys Prodigies in 3lb test. Custom full cork handles. 12ft. Ian
  5. If I could, I would. Love it there. Ian
  6. Agree with all replies. Cats are not often caught during the colder months although you might want to try using liver as your bait. Ian
  7. The system/arrangement is too specific, reduces the permitted flexibility of "loose" alarms. Users only have one option. Sometimes I use a pod, other times I may choose to spread separate sticks/alarms around the confines of my swim. Options. Ian
  8. As would I. Often overlooked, I find. Ian
  9. Steve, I was talking to an angler I know yesterday and he's selling up in Brum and moving to Northants just for the fishing. Can't blame him! Ian
  10. Angel, just buy Sensor in brown. It won't disappoint, trust me. Ian
  11. Shimano Longcast Big Baitrunners. I use three and love them to bits. They are ideally balanced on my ageing Greys Prodigy's in 3lb test, customised with full cork and Fuji reel seats. An ideal combination. Ian
  12. There is that possibility, of course, LOL. No problems from that direction so far, though. Ian
  13. Gardner ATTs. Underlit silent heads. The business. Ian
  14. Same. ATTs, waterproof, bullet proof and nothing to go wrong. What's not to love? Ian
  15. The Lake of the Town Chef........at least you wouldn't go hungry. Ian
  16. I've just had a look at the stretch on Google Earth. I must say that it looks like a very pleasant place to be. Ian
  17. Don't worry about removing this post, it's of potential interest to many, especially those of us that live in the Midlands and enjoy fishing the rivers. I note that chillfactor has asked about overnights. May we? Welcome to the forum by the way and congratulations on ten years of riparian bankside maintenance. Ian
  18. Actually this works very well and has the added advantage of a small offering of freebies around the hookbait. Ian
  19. That's what I've been using since Nige tipped me the wink on it. Simply put, it's the best line I've ever used. 0.3mm diameter, ties nicely and has no spool memory. Loving it. Ian
  20. I had to Google Isotopes to remember what they are/were........... Ian
  21. sharpy, just Google Ridgemonkey toaster and scroll down to images. Dozens of them, mate. Ian
  22. I have both but seldom use the smaller one for the reason given by spr1985. Ian
  23. Glad to help, mate. It's what forums are for. Ian
