My pod, I do tend to push down hard into the ground if a can, you can always put a small bungy over with pegs holding down.....The Avid Pod is supplied with a strap and pegs for this reason.
I've had many a Pods but always go back to thus style/design
 

The Fox Black Label QR pod gets good reviews, Avid Lockdown pod also....but with being a "Pod" there will always be stability issues, unlike Banksticks....
I've had a take and the pod went over, even with a looses(ish) clutch.

So having returned to carp fishing and finding my old rods were not up to job, i got Diawa 12ft rods but soon found them a bit long for the water i am fishing a lot of pegs have plenty of tree`s over hanging, so bought Wychwood 9ft 2.75 rods and sold the as new Diawa rods for what i paid

Yes mate, I keep looking at the Gardner GTHD mainline. 

My mate used Diawa Sensor for 20+ years but within the last few he's said it's changed and not good, I've used it and thought not good.  As Elmo says anything Gardner seems to be a winner!

Or just break the coating in loads of different places along its length

I remember that weekend, I went all over the Northwest and I ended up just not going for a few weeks after, EVERY lake was rammed and all the Argos Angmers were out in numbers 🤣🤣

I'm on a break at moment, last time I was out was more than 14months ago, not a single line wet since then, I did end up selling all my Gear, but recently started to gather backup.
Bait, I think, is a personal choice AND can be an expensive 1....inuse Sticky Manilla all year through and did do before I stopped, now I've gone back to the same, but will only be doing PVA Bags close in range.
Same with rigs, there is alot of mechanical in them, only 2 rigs for myself....Ronnie Claw rig, pva bag rig....job done.
But don't think I could do the lengths of your 2's being so many years...
