  1. Must admit to nearly messing up the engine such an idiot, when I replaced the coolant I refilled the expansion tank thinking it would pump around the car from there, razzed it round the block and nearly overheated the engine, got back and filled the through engine cap, engine was bone dry it gulped it down giving out big burps as the air was forced out, my mobile mechanic would of never trusted me again, if it's an easy job he tells me what needs doing, with a very confident 'you could do that' added here and there.
  2. My Jalopy is sorted, had to box off the rear pipe work in the end the corrosion spot is in a bracket area of the pipe work so no chance of sealing it, if I can be bothered at some point I will grab a whole new, from the scrap yard, rear pipe system easy to fit that why they corrode completely exposed to the under spray.
  3. Can't go wrong with daiwa, if I was to moan about anything it's the random addition of folding handles to some but not all of daiwa reels, I'm looking at two small dawia reels one nearly twice the the price of the 40 quid reel, yet it's the 40 that comes with a folding handle, nice little float and ledgering reels.
  4. Oh the bit on top, a tenner as a gesture of goodwill, thought that was a bit light myself, end of the day I'm not out of pocket, the fact they sent a barrister to defend a civil case in lower courts made me very wary of proceeding their legal bills were huge the lower court agreed I wasn't liable to pay them.
  5. Enforcement of a court order without the correct warrant not as drastic as it sounds, forced a payment out of me by threating me with bailiff action then tried to recover legal costs, it was at that point I took them to court for execution of a court order without warrant as they removed my property without my agreement to cover an outstanding debt, which I did owe and offered to pay they were asking for unrealistic instalments I couldn't agree to, so I let them do their worst knowing they would step over the line, the court order they had agreed I was liable for the debt and they could recover their money the way they went about it was a problem, for them. Couldn't get a solicitor to touch it on a no win no fee, Tort law which is complicated and they only do cases that are above 25k for the kind of lawyers that do this kind of a case it includes loads of consumer goods laws and protections, got my money back with a little bit on top.
  6. Just looking at a Korum day brolly myself, not cheap are they, I still run on 1990s prices for brolly and similar even looked in the trusty argos catalogue they usually have a cheap version, nothing.
  7. Probably best you don't, you might be one of the unlucky ones who gets investigated by the post police, I could of took a short cut on a claim against me a few years back, would of got me paid out and all claims dropped, very underhand though, glad I took the long game, got paid in the end and all accounts are even.
  8. Just enough to redecorate the house plus new soft furnishings and a few bob left over to go towards a bit of summer pocket money, was thinking a holiday but she is still having ops so not much point, plus the prices for UK holidays are shocking.
  9. Back of the net! Just got awarded a smaller amount than what I was asking for but a win is a win and it is a tidy amount, plus it's more the principle, I don't like being mugged off when money is involved, the only reason they have offered a payment is because they know with a solicitor to do the upper court for me I would clean up, I can't do it myself as you only get one chance and if you get it wrong all costs will be on you, no ifs no buts.
  10. I do follow Julian Cunddif on twitter he is such a nice guy funny as well got loads of time for people he don't know and to top it off he comes from a very well to do background and not at all snobby.
  11. Maybe media was the wrong word meant more industry driven via social media I guess if you invest in a modern fisheries you are going to want all year round anglers, one lad was complaining on FB he paid 40 for 24 hours and got rig checked twice two different lake staff members. The estate lake near me a once syndicate is now a lake exclusive only which is fair enough then you read the rules choice of four pegs which must be fished from and they also insist on certain lead set ups and tubing only no straight through even, notoriously difficult water that has had stock fish added, I wouldn't expect strict peg rules on a lake exclusive, they are only in place to stop swim poaching on day ticket waters.
  12. See Preston do a rod and reel range with 420 logos and branding Wonder where they nicked that from, I'm tempted to try the waggler rod for the branding alone, plus the fact it's a really nice slim blank, just a touch above what I want to spend, plus the Drennan red rod comes with over sized eyes, not sure on the pellet waggler rods they look a bit clumsy for canal angling and I really do need something that will fish lines up to 8lb bs, trust me most waggler rods will have a problem with line above 5lb, the friction really does add up fast.
  13. Are anglers expecting too much from the UKs climate and water temps, fair play if you wish to fish all year round, but you can't expect anything really, some lads that pop up on my twitter feed are only just having their first carp since last autumn, yet not really paying much consideration to the fact you really do have to be on the carp in winter. A tench angler out at first light in march looking for large tench, which is not impossible but damn near, you could win most afternoon matches in march with a 2oz perch caught on half a pinkie. I think a return to the promotion of seasonal angling is needed it's a shame specimen angling has gone the way it has, driven by private industry and retail, I'm starting to find the ignorant marketing something similar to a dodgy double glazing sales team yet they are never called out due to angling being recreational. I don't fish winters myself but if I did I wouldn't be doing summer type angling just for the sake of getting out.
  14. Ohh the waggler is looking positive, no action as such yet, but I did think it would be a fine morning to go have a looksie at a few spots on the Grand Union canal, I already know where I'm heading nice and local. looking at a 10 foot beefed up waggler rod that can handle 8lb line the Drennam red rage is looking good the ten foot float version with a dawia 25 rz 2500 reel. Size 16 hooks might even need a 4lb hook length for a size 18 hook, going big perch fishing stepped up enough should one of the canal carp take a liking
  15. Don't think there is any denial not for those that champion rewilding as they call it, what was once open land and waters are now trusts run by enthusiasts, they are more than happy to have wild Otters at the top of the food chain, some groups do use predator fencing and shooting teams for mink and foxes the hypocrisy is wild. Not what anglers want to hear but protecting carp in UK waters would be seen as a non starter for the various trusts that are very politically connected with great international influence, they definitely have the legal system on their side.
  16. When it comes to line I try to use the highest BS I can cast and manage on the the spool I only fish small waters so I can get away with stronger lines you can use the Gardener lines without much concern for a rubbish cast or spring like behaviour on the spool.
  17. Still no fishing to report been busy with the cooling system on the wagon rust treated the pipe work ready for a coat of epoxy resin, I could cut the pipe work out and bypass the rear heating that is feed by the coolant but I hate doing that. Also rust treated the chassis hit it all with some chassis sealant when done, should sort it, Kia really are the Asian Ford, the car is solid underneath all but one pipe system due to using cheap paint on the pipe, bet kia buy it in painted. Been looking at waggler rods for the canal, keep yous posted if anything develops.
  18. Don't know who's making these pictures that pop up on FB but I find them hilarious 😂 simple things and that. The write up for the bonny blue one good, she is opening a venue in Northampton 🤜
  19. Drones are tempting especially if you fish a quiet water, but to use one just because you think the lake owner isn't on site is a bit adventurous. He is there most days doing improvements, the landscaping on those lakes is very well laid out in the summer the place looks amazing really is a hot spot for adders as well.
  20. Google pixel range for cameras same as a Samsung but with a better camera set up on each similar priced phone. I just got the A25 will do for me but if I was spending a bit more I would of went with the pixel.
  21. Always liked the lakes in question the owner is very private with them so I don't name his lakes, very popular massive waiting list, just outside Wellingborough. I was surprised the other week a big name angler tried for membership, got turned down permanently that's how non publicity the place is. The angler that got the recent ban was using a drone, and pictures ended up online the drone would get you banned from any lake? I could name the lakes and owner but that wouldn't be overstepping the mark a bit.
  22. Probably not for previous members of said lake owner, I don't like to name drop or give obvious detail just commenting on a very typically funny post I saw on face book whilst looking for a lake membership. The company in question with rude photos up was advanced hook baits, not advanced baits, I was going to message the lake owner, say I hear he has a ticket going 😍
  23. Well that's a bit rude, I have walked away from that and the other on more than one occasion. Then again snide remarks are not nothing new with this crowd, ever so nice IRL though. Lucky for you site rules don't apply evenly on carp . com 😂
  24. Suppose I best pull the gear out and see what's what I know I need spod braid I'm good for bait got a freezer full and a large sack of pellets probably going to need a weed rake at some point ticket starts in May so plenty of time to get a few bits. What this year's go to rig? Be chods by June on a long as length of boom as you dare
