  1. My first born. Buster the man eating shihtzu. šŸ¤£
  2. Made a start on my Christmas present and havenā€™t put it down. A really enjoyable and easy read. Itā€™s a monster of a book at 536 pages and Iā€™m by no means at the end but really enjoying it after the first 120 pages. Thereā€™s no self indulgent big headed nonsense, no ā€œlook how great I amā€ storyā€™s. It flows nicely. The white print on black background is different but works for me. i maybe bias because I rate Mr Penning highly as an angler and as a writer but Iā€™d really recommend this one.
  3. If itā€™s only silk weed I donā€™t think Iā€™d be overly worried. But Iā€™d be tempted to fish solid bags personally. There will be clear spots tho. Seek and ye shall find.
  4. But it still caught!! Weā€™re all delusional Iā€™m sure!šŸ˜‚
  5. Is there any bigger buzz than hearing the alarm go and the reel going in to meltdown? Never gets boring!
  6. The storyā€™s have gone quiet, hoping to kick start it again. Found a couple more favourites. My pb commmon and then a very unusual day time capture for me. Iā€™ve never managed the moody blank expression in catch pictures. Normally too shocked and euphoric!!
  7. Having a daughter and having a few quid in the bank donā€™t exactly go together šŸ˜†
  8. Come on then!! Iā€™ve only started this thread for the storyā€™s to save me spending 40 quid on Pennings new book!
  9. This fish for me is picture perfect. Tell us the story...šŸ™‚
  10. More than 1 choice is more than welcome! Salokcinnodrog some lovely fish there, that first mirror looks really special.
  11. And there was nothing wrong with east17, I rocked that white puffa jacket back in ā€˜93 šŸ˜‚
  12. That mirrors a cracker! Great colours. Thereā€™s some lovely fish being shown on here. Keep them coming!
  13. Morning all. Iā€™ve had a little look on the forum and canā€™t seem to find a thread containing peopleā€™s favourite captures. Might not be a PB, night be a real looker, could be a great story behind it. So whatā€™s your favourite fish pic? ill kick off with this one. Caught this year from a margin spot just under my feet. I was on a bit of a dry spell and starting to question everything I was doing. Blown away by the beauty of it and genuinely made my knees tremble when I peered in the net..
  14. I normally do a midweek work night once a week all year round. I get to the lake around 6.30pm and pack up at 4am. Particularly hard work this time of year but I usually find the lake deserted.
  15. Really enjoyed the magic sponge, shame it seems to have come to an end. Anyone know any decent podcasts? That journey to work is unbearable with the radio on.
  16. Sorry I really shouldā€™ve updated. Arrived last Friday to find the lake very busy. All main swims taken. As there was three of us fishing we were quite limited when it came to swim choice. Ended up down in swims 23 24 25. Looked good for a bite but wasnā€™t to be. The main reason for the trip was a bit of a social and few glasses of wine. Had a great time. The place seems well run and everyone we spoke to were pleasant and helpful. I did find it strange that at 6pm we were locked in. Abit like fishing Alcatraz. The only disappointment was the amount of rubbish left in swims. It was sad to see bags of rubbish thrown into trees. Some people ruin it for all. Id go back in the spring but I think Iā€™d aim for a midweeker and pray it wasnā€™t so busy.
  17. I had to buy a generator for my good old Colman stove yesterday. Standing at the till clutching a crisp tenner... 22 quid! Maybe I shouldā€™ve waited. No wonder tackle shops are disappearing. šŸ˜¢
  18. I got 2 king size mars bars for Ā£1.20 in the garage. Black Friday šŸ˜– more American nonsense.
  19. Iā€™m glad itā€™s not just me. Couldnā€™t get on with it. Looks so easy but in reality I baited every tree and bush on the lake. Something else that now sits in the garage in a darkened corner. ive found cutting my baiting down has improved my catches. Less is more in my book.
  20. Specialist sharpened Mugga. Lovely hook. Just look past the price tag šŸ˜–
  21. I have mate. Brockhurst moat holds some lovely fish if you can get through the weed. Fish the Portsmouth waters regularly but just looking for a change of scene.
  22. Iā€™ve fished sandhurst a few times. It doesnā€™t really excite me much. Probably because everything I go itā€™s like a mud bath there.
  23. Guys thanks for the advice. Couple of venues mentioned that I hadnā€™t even thought of. Decided on Farlows for this trip. More of a social really but Iā€™ll put a report up should we strike it lucky. Going next week. Anyone able to offer any tips on Farlows?
