  1. I have an Angling Intelligence Retainer/Sling... never use it to retain fish but it's excellent as a weigh sling,
  2. From a magazine perspective I downloaded an app called Readly.... tenner a month for all the mags you can read.... sadly ony a few titles are available... Angling times and mail plus improve you coarse fishing, that works out over a tenner a months worth in just the weeklies alone take into accout the bike mags pgotography mags and computeractive weekl and its worth the money.... shame theres not more fishing mags to go for
  3. It's dragging the little blighters away from Bookface or Chapsnat thats the hard bit... most kids have their faces buried in a screen these days... whereas a lot of kids (when I were a nipper) were chucked outta the house to give our parents a bit o P&Q... so we went fishing... not for carp, god no.... carp were seen as the pinnacle of ones fishing achievements... nowadays kids get better gear than I had first time out and learn their craft (if one can call it such) at the Altar of The Korda Underwater series or The church of Youtube without understanding the reasoning behind the teachings....
  4. Tried COG's... didn't like em... found the shortened swivel rarely detached from the lead even after vigorous shaking... mine went in the bin...👎
  5. Think I'm going to have a dry run at home and see if the lead clears the stops... if it does I'll give it a go on the water
  6. Theory.... when a fish takes it's rarely on the lateral... more at an angle.... so.... with that in mind removing the insert and putting a pair of small rubber float tops behind the lead, the line at the point of the take would be on enough of an angle to stop the lead but slimline enough to go through the lead in the event of a break off...?
  7. Is there a safe way of setting up a Shokka rig with inlines...? I used to use a bead as the shokka part of the rig, but went over to a straight inline when it was shown that the lead doesn't always clear the bead in the event of a break...
  8. Have a look at the Avid inlines... very nice... I use the 1.5 oz ones for bag work
  9. I see with some sadness the Carpworld is closing its offices and shutting up shop, and Big Carp is going digital only... Shame as both were good reads... is this indicative of a general shift in magazine based publishing to a digital format ? or a shift in angling habits with the growth of match and predator fishing drawing anglers away from carp.... what are your views...?
  10. Soz.... gotta get my eyes retested😳 Apologies...😎👍
  11. A coated braid is about the same diameter as a fluoro leader...! (And it depends on the BS of the fluouro leader...) I prefer tubing if its insisted upon & I'd prefer to fish a naked line where possible... it looks far less blatant, especially when fished slack... The knots that join leaders are the issue with inlines to my mind... there must be a way of fishing an inline shokka system safely
  12. To be fair, so can bare mono or fluoro leaders... so where does one go from here...
  13. I use these too... brill bits of kit... got mine for nowt... a mate did some development work for Bryan Houghton and got a load as freebies and he passed a few onto me... love em... loads of other styles, none better in my opinion
  14. I'm of the same opinion.. that said does an inline jiggle around so as to cause damage...?? I think if you were using really heavy leads there is a danger that some mouth damage could occur.... again It's not an issue for me as I rarely use leads above 2oz and only use lightweight inlines 1 or 1.5oz for bag work
  15. Yup... hernia world... with the Nash Frostbite bag its well warm and comfy
  16. Hate to think how much my Wideboy weighs... sometimes wish I had summat lighter, but I'm a tall lad and I need a big bed...😳
  17. NGT and JRC do a 2 pc handle Nash also do a Scope net if you are feeling especially flush.... all fit in the Dwarf 9' 2 rod sleeve
  18. Went for the Abode full overwrap for £69.99 off the bay.... looked at the Sonik Tek front for a tenner less but it doesn't have the cover of the Abode for only a tenner more
  19. Or if you cant afford an extra 75 quid per alarm and another 147 for the receiver the ATTX dongles and receiver are cheaper... by some margin... not being contentious just pointing out a fact🤣😛
  20. You need to go fishing mate.... but don't forget yer remote...🤣🤣🤣🤣😜👍
  21. To be honest the Gardner Dongle system has bee used on hundreds of entry/mid level Delkims that don't have receiver tech already fitted and to buy the dongles and receiver still works out cheaper than a full set of TXi's and receiver... so if mt ATTs alarmsxwent pear chaped tomorrow I'd either buy another ATTs alarm or Delkim D's and a pair of dongles and still have a good pair of remote alarms
  22. Forgetting my receiver is a moot point as it lives in the bag with the alarms... dunno why it was brought up tell the truth... most folks keep their alarm stuff together... its common sense If you don't...... well I you need to rethink the way you pack your gear....🤣 As for the ATTs not having speakers.... I tend not to irritate other folks on the banks setting my alarms because they are on vibro only and no-one can hear them... unlike mallet man and his foxes on full volume tinkering with the things every 5 minutes for something to do... for me it was one of the reasons I went with the Gardner offerings... and If I ever go over to the Delkim EV-D's then I'd use the Dongles and the gardner receiver to keep the alarms silent... ( if thats possible)
  23. but just because you forget the receiver why go home.... (okay on a night session maybe... or get the wife to run it out to you....🤣🤣😛)
