was that inside or outside ? im worried about hooking the fish outside the mouth .

hopefully this will just get sucked in with all the bits and pieces that they normally pick up when feeding dave

well I still have things that go around in my head,normally late at night when I cant sleep, having been thinking on the lines of not actually baiting the hook just having it in a pile of particles , I'm thinking that its going to need something to give it more mass ( easier to be scucked up off the lake bed ) also looking like its just part of the natural environment. this is what I've come up with so far , a natural fren type of aquarium decoration , just whipped on with a standard knotless knot , and placed into a small pva mesh stick or bag of particles ( bird food used here ) . dave

had a bit of a mess about today , with just using 10lb mono and a split shot to sink it , I was surprised to see that the rig will sit upright , the hook is just tied on with a blood knot and the whole lot pulled through a popup and pulled up so the knot just sits into the bait , it does wave around a bit , so by using a stiff hook length im sure that it would work for those fish that only mouth the bait rather than sucking the whole thing in , for those that are interested its a size 6 hook and a 15mm popup .

also as the fish suck, the bait having more mass than the hook it will try and go in first ,turning the hook away and turning the rig upside down dave

looking at your drawing dean , the weight of the hook will make it hang down rather than stick up . I think that you would have to mount the bait on the hooklink with it pulled up with the eye of the hook just into the bait , using a very fine wired hook , and a very buoyant popup . dave

I think its good to come up with ideas and get them out in the open sometimes , other peoples views can steer you in the correct direction dave

after watching the videos myself , I also have been wondering if there is a way of getting the hook to go in first , the trouble is that if the fish sucks the bait in from the wrong direction the rig just wouldn't work ,there is a good chance of foul hooking the fish outside of the mouth . the trick with the particles is the fish are preoccupied with picking up the particles, and don't notice the hook, the fish are used to picking up allsorts of stones and twigs and the hook is just another twig in the mix . dave

gone for the Cyprinus Magnetix 60" system , with infill panels , ground sheet and overwrap all in for £200 , looks to have plenty of head room and is getting some good reviews . looking at some of the others they don't seem to get the spokes up very high and I think these will just get in the way . hopefully being brolly based drying it out won't be too much of a pain . thanks for all your help , dave .

to be honest I dont have anything against korda as a brand and own some of their products , its the way that the marketing is pushed upon people , most is subliminal ( if thats the correct word ) its the fact that we all need the latest rig and all the parts that go with it to be able to catch these monster carp...... and guess what , korda have just the bits your looking for, all in a nice shiny box !! I can remember when I was a kid , an old boy telling me that most of the floats in my local tackle shop , were there to catch the fisherman not the fish. dave

Richard , It looks to me that you need to spend some more of your hard earned on more korda accessories , according to ali that rig is just not a knotless knot rig , you need to add all the rest of the bits , hook stop , ring swivel and putty, once you have spent the £30 on all these bits, you then need to trim the wafter ( with your korda scissors) to get it to balance just right , not forgetting the correct weighted braided hooklength dave .

thanks nige , from looking at the pictures i can find , it looks as if the ribs are quite high up once its set up , looks to give a lot more head room than some of the others ? did you think this is correct ? thanks dave

thanks guys , plenty of options have been suggested , looks like i'm going to have a wander around a few shops and see what they have on offer and also see it set up. also have a walk around the club water and see what people are using . cheers dave
