  1. My ‘standard’ approach that I’ve used for a good few years consists of 2 sizes of boilie (14/18, 16/20), chopped boilie, mixed size pellets (2-6mm), hemp, corn and chopped Tigers. Basically, lots of variety!
  2. If its a simple leadfree leader that you are splicing yourself, I’d still use the Korda Hybrid leadclip👍
  3. As per the title. I’m looking for recommendations on a suitable leadclip that will fit and work effectively with a Gemini flouro leader incorporating a Size 8 quick change swivel. 👍
  4. In the interests of lightning the load, I’ve done away with a separate marker rod completely and only use a dedicated Spod rod if I need to put a large Spomb 100yds+. My regular rod/line combo of Harrison TE specials and 40lb PowerPro allows me to mark up, bait and fish more efficiently.
  5. Pop ups for the vast majority of my fishing (currently its all I’m using). Occasionally, I’ll use a wafter or balanced bottom bait/snowman. Can’t remember the last time I used a straight boilie bottom bait.
  6. I can highly recommend PowerPro in 40lb & 50lb breaking strains. I’m using the 40lb as my general mainline. Since the water Im fishing is shallow and Im not fishing much beyond 100 yds max I’m using my actual fishing rods to spomb too. Makes things so much easier; find a spot with a bare lead, clip up, swop lead for Spomb to bait up, remove and replace with baited rig, voila!
  7. Bull pool??
  8. Maybe slightly left field but as someone who has always been interested in what makes people successful I’ve read and listened to few books on the subject. My interest is personal and professional. As a teacher I’m concerned with academic progress and examination success. In the past as a younger man I’ve had sporting aspirations. Obviously, as an angler I’ve tried to analyse what creates success in terms of fish on the bank. If you’re interested, I can heartily recommend ‘Bounce’ by Matthew Syed.
  9. Had loads on Luncheon Meat back in the 70’s and early 80’s, including my first 20+ in ‘81👍
  10. Just dropped out. I only managed 2 nights in 2 years! To be honest, it wasn’t really for me. Lovely little water with a good ongoing stocking policy and facilities but just didn’t float my boat. Hard to put my finger on it but I was never excited by fishing there and at my age I’m not fishing anywhere which doesn’t give me a real buzz!
  11. An update on my experience with this stuff. Having used it for several months now on a few different waters, I’m not particularly happy with its abrasion resistance. When fishing in heavy weed, I’ve had several instances where the outer kevlar wrap has worn through and started to peel away from the inner braid. Initially I thought it might be an isolated instance but having re-spooled one reel which was badly affected, it’s happened again in two other places! Its also happened at the knot where I’ve joined it to a fluoro leader. Since all my waters are now very weedy I’ll be getting rid and returning to Mono for the time being. I’m considering the Gardner HydroTuff in .38mm if anyone has any views on it?
  12. Mate of mine, ‘Bungle’, top bloke and angler with ‘Bling’ from Black Swan from a few weeks back at 38+😎
  13. Great session Elmo-well angled👏
  14. Yeah, had a regular rat visitor in the Works swim😬. Cheers for the offer mate👍
  15. Certainly is a lovely water. Mick George’s ruins the view here and there but a small price to pay. Met a few of the regulars, all seem friendly too. Good vibe about the place👍
  16. Was on the Lagoon. Some of those mozzies are on steroids🤣
  17. Tried the Avon stuff on my first session down St Ives. Not particularly effective for me. Luckily I had also packed a bottle of Smidge-that sorted ‘em out👍
  18. Agree! Opened my eyes to the stamp of fish in there. Makes me wonder about the rivers closer to home. Then again we haven’t got the quality of lake escapees up in Cheshire🙄
  19. 😎👏👍👌
  20. What I’d give to be a bike ride away from Dinton!
  21. Amazing results👍That place doesn’t give ‘em up easy at the best of times but Winter👏👌
  22. Really? I’ve been fishing for 50 years this year on many, many club and syndicate waters all over the country and have never come across that rule!
  23. All round Mono, P-Line Extrusion, 21lb. Distance casting, Gardner pro 10lb, plus 50lb PowerPro braid leader All round Braid, Gardner Hydro Sink 22lb.
  24. I’m actually shocked by that! For me, Terry’s first is an absolute classic. Not a brilliant writer but the book was an eye opener and major catalyst for many anglers. The second is very good but not in the same class. Maylin’s first 2 were outstanding. Didn’t rate Bazil’s Bush as highly. The less said about his last effort, the better!
