I’ve read ‘Fine Lines’ and though I enjoyed it I thought it was the weakest of Laney’s 3 offerings. Was always a fan of Gibbinson; I’ve been scouring ebay for bargains👍🏻

Mind you perhaps the biggest and most significant saving has been my own! A new eating plan and exercise has resulted in a near 2 stone weight loss!

blooming big heavy Benchmark X! With my advancing years the one thing I can’t manage without is a large bedchair🥴. The weight saving issue is quite addictive though, isn’t it!? I’ve swopped Stainless for Jag Black. Switched barrow bags and rod holdalls for small ruck sack and quiver. The Neville’s are smaller/lighter than the old Fox’s. I’ve been ruthless with terminal tackle, got a smaller box. Ditched the big rig board and removed loads of ‘just in case’ items too👍

Well, just replaced my elastics with cable ties as per the recommendations in the Carpfeed article. Total weight saving of 1.5lb and a not inconsiderable volume of material. Nice and firm but still comfy with the memory foam base. Now to source a smaller/lighter pillow to cut down weight a little further👍

Just read a Carpfeed article recommending the replacement of bedchair elastics with cable ties. This apparently results in a firmer bed (which makes sense) but also a significant weight saving?! Anyone done this? Can’t imagine that the elastic weighs so much, surely?

A long-term member told me about seeing the ‘Unit’ at very close range (he had witnessed it caught the day before at 44lb) tight in under a bush and being bullied out by a fish he reckoned was a good 10lb bigger....its some place😎

Its not for everyone but I loved it on there-just wish I’d had the money at the time to renew my Gold ticket. Biggest I had was 38 too. Like you I was flat rodded once in Peg 1; lost it to a hookpull, partially opened a Drennan Conti Size 4😳. Saw an absolute chunk in front of Peg 3 whilst out in the boat-thought it was a log until I drifted over and it grew fins and waddled off-I very nearly fell in!

Yeah, I understand that. I had half a dozen sessions on White through my summer holidays and was able to fish mid-week-fantastic water. Black was mad busy through the Spring (like everywhere!) but much quieter after spawning. I think the boats, general public etc plus the algae blooms put a lot off.

You tempted to ever go back Emcee? I had to drop my Gold card last year but back on the list for Black/Gold, whichever comes up first🤞🙏

I think the MK3 has a low volume and silent head option (receiver sounds) for stealth mode😎. Plus a sensitivity setting. I’m tempted, for the sake of a change really. My old RX Digitals still attract decent money second hand.

I prefer brown too for tubing or leadcore. Often, I’ll fleck it with a permanent marker to break up the outline. Does it make a difference? I don’t honestly know but it comes back to confidence and of course it looks carpy😉😎

Any Neville fans on here? They do seem to have a cult following and are obviously very Carpy but are they really any good/reliable? I keep seeing references to the cases cracking or is that the older versions. I do like the simplicity/relatively compact size and I’m not adverse to the tart factor!

Read Micky’s second book but not ‘Merry Old Dance’, again it goes for silly money these days. Read both of Wimott’s but not Sharpy’s.

Yeah, read Forgotten Chapters and Savay. Pecky’s book is one I’d like but only seen it for silly money. I’ll look out for the ‘Chronicles’ series👍

I’ve pretty much re-read my collection of Carp books so I’m looking for recommendations. I’ve not read any of Shelley’s and I certainly don’t expect a literary classic but are they worth a punt, his latest is still available I believe?
