B last a reasonable length of time C be of reasonable quality take them back. to be fair to sonik they said the right thing as your contract is with the shop as Yonny correctly said. Assuming you bought from a uk shop? the only time you go direct to a manufacturer is if you buy direct from them.

Your contract is with the place you purchased them from. As not fit for purpose, I would be getting a refund and something by a different manufacturer.

I would get your money back tbh and buy a different reel, okuma do a spod reel for similar money

Think on most it might help but these have pretty crisp edges. The bevel on the clip is pretty sharp and with the spool where the line is near the clip. I ran a plastic card over it and look how it cut into that They're going back I think. I got maker elastic so can manage with that for now(might not be quite as accurate) They got a years warranty just gotta get Christmas out of the way(kids to buy pressies for) as I like winter fishing and don't want to be without reels until all the refund rubbish is sorted(gave my old ones away to someone wanting to start out). Not sure how effective that would be unless it's shallow and gin clear. If you want to see the bottom you probably want a winch cam of some sort.
