I'd say it depends on the venue you chose to fish during winter and weather conditions that you are fishing in. High stocked venue then I'd fish lead clips to semi tight lines and fish for liners if I can't find them. 12mm - 16mm baits and I wouldn't be afraid to give them some bait. On my syndicate water I used to go the opposite regarding bait size, 18mm - 24mm baits. The bigger baits for pre-baiting to hopefully stop the tufties scoffing them. I would have also been baiting a swim or 2 for a good few months by now with particle and boilie. Plumbing the spots every now and then will tell you if the fish are visiting the spot.

I fished through the winter on Bundy’s pit around 10 years ago which has depths to 60ft. I caught fish down to 45ft and saw 1 caught from 55ft. Though I believe adjustable zigs are now successful.

We used to have 2 firework party’s one for the little kids and one for the big kids. On our big kids party you had to bring a firework bigger the better. We always had a good drink. Anyway I got hold of a huge rocket and was in the running for the best firework till my mate sheepish said can I borrow a shovel and disappeared to the top of the garden giggling. At 12 O’clock he got us all up and we staggered out to the garden best stand back he says giggling again....Well it was must have been like the blitz all hell broke loose everyone was all running around like headless chicken trying to fine cover and not drop there drinks one of the boys done a spectacular leap and tried to clear a 6 foot fence missed his footing went smack into it I can remember the mrs trying frantically to get into the shed that was locked seemed like time stood still. O happy days 😂 The following day I went to the top of the garden for a tidy up and found my mates firework double the size of a biscuit tin it was. I read the instructions and in big Capital letters read display model stand back 50 metres 🙄

On Ardleigh every fish I caught was around the 6 foot depth, where Alton I caught in depths from 6feet down to 15feet deep.
