  2. Do the fish have hard or soft mouths? If you get burred over hook points I'd say hard mouths, maybe they've toughened up due to feeding over gravel. What hook size are you using? I fished a lake many years ago, suffered hook pulls, burred points. Switched from my size 4 straight point hooks to beaked point hooks. After trials I ended up with size 10 beak points and if I recall only had 2 more hook pulls from over 100 fish.

  4. I see. If you were struggling with the weed I'd maybe agree, but since you're not I'm not sure that is the answer.

It sounds like a challenge mate and ultimately that's what we're after as carp anglers. Carp are wild creatures and for every water where they behave how we think they should there is another that goes against the grain. I personally prefer those types of waters as they test our skills and our resilience. It is waters such as this that reward those that try the hardest. The carp will tell you exactly how to catch them if you look hard enough mate. There is always a ***** in there armour somewhere.

  6. My thoughts were just ditching the lead may help as the inlines can sneak up the line I'm mot ditching those tbh they are fox ones 😁

That’s just it it’s not invisible it’s a crater so blatant and visible it’s unreal and these fish ain’t stupid this place as I’ve said is not like any water I’ve fished before the carp rule book don’t exist on this place lol what you think they’re supposed to do -do the opposite lol and your not far wrong lol

This place I’m fishing is like no other water I’ve fished. Usual carp behaviour is out the window on this place you may glimps a fin or a bubbler if your looking they don’t really follow the wind and if they do they don’t stay on it,there are fish here that have never come out since they were stocked it’s like a whole new learning curve lol that’s without nothing coming out an it still being filled in with bait boats

I have been fishing in the silt I have been wondering if it’s that obvious to me where the lead is how obvious is it to the carp

  12. Agree mate, that's a bit strange. You'd expect to lose them on the initial battle against the pads/weed if the hook hold was poor. Let us know if your rig modification works buddy.

  13. I find fishing locked up leads to better hook holds tbh mate. Are you losing them in the weed? Or are they just dropping off? I have honestly never had an issue with hooks blunting on gravel (and I've been using sharpened hooks for many, many years. I would suspect your hooks are being damaged during the fight which is completely normal imo.

  14. Sometimes they just happen, we can't land them all. That said, you do seem to be having an abnormal ratio of losses. Defo worth a try mate. What is key to you is what the hook holds were like on the fish you landed. they should be able to tell you a great deal. Did you have a look?

  15. Yes, easy to do and effective.

  16. If its a simple leadfree leader that you are splicing yourself, I’d still use the Korda Hybrid leadclip👍

  17. I’ve had a few but 2 I mainly remember were on the river. One night when I was asleep I woke to hear lots of footsteps behind my bivvy, getting closer then scratching the back of the bivvy, I dive out to see what was going on, there was like 50 cows behind my bivvy with one licking it lol. Can’t explain how relieved I was to see the cows lol another time me and a friend were doing a night on the river, must of been about 16 at the time, we were outside the bivvys having smoke around midnight, when two men entered the field and started walking towards us, we weren’t sure what to do so just stood there and waited out, they walked directly at us, when they were a few yards away my mate asked what they were doing. They replied they’ve been on the mdma all night and wanted to go for a magical walk along the river 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Had a chat for a while and off they went, never seen them again 😂😂
