i agree with dayvid about the bivvy heater bud, i would class it as the most lethal bit of kit ever invented.
get a good bed and sleep system with waterproof fleece lined overwrap and you could even do away with the bivvy.
I find these hair clips in the bar, but they're available everywhere for next to nothing, (she'll never miss it), and as the bait disintegrates it closes on the line. I keep a few of various sizes in my tackle box.

Fill them with boilie paste, and even roll it outside the cage, and boil as per your boilie mix.
You then have a crayfish resistant bait.
The outer skin may be munched, but the 'liner' is protecting the inner part of the boilie from the little beggars
I will go with gazlaaar on this one . Myself is cut down a wine bottle cork to the size required hair rig the sized cork , then apply the paste carp to the cork . It will float so make sure you want popup .
