I used to use them years ago and they were Mega Sharp. The only problem I had was the Lake I was fishing some of the Gravel was so severe it would take the Point off almost every cast! ando Posted February 20, 2007 Report Share Posted February 20, 2007 Korda Longshanks never lost a fish i think it may be down to using the right rig for the right hook. you are always going to get a few bad hooks in a pack from time to time because they are massed produced in factories. I did go through a patch of different hooks but no idea what they all were... always went back to Drennan Specimen in the end. I might give these Longshanks or these Wide Gape a look now though. So I switched to Korda Wide Gape, not had any trouble with these. Was at the tackle shop the other day looking for some Korda's in size 10, but he didn't have any. Spotted some of them "New" (??? , well I've never seen them before) Fox Arma-Point hooks, they looked good, so I buyed myself some. Bought them in size 8 though, as they looked about the size of the korda size 10's ??? Can't comment yet, as I haven't actually used them. Drennan sedge hooks, small and a bit delicate but very light and sharp. Not to be used near anything to snaggy! trevor1 Posted March 28, 2007 Report Share Posted March 28, 2007 Ashima rds-3 size 6 are the best hooks I've found to get decent fish out of snaggy areas,I found some on ebay at £3.99 for 30! usually £3.00 for 10,and they were the real m'coy .But like whats been said before,it depends what rig I'm using. I use ESP Big T Raptors for 95% of my fishingcos i prefer a straight pointed hook but agree that they can get blunt quick but i suppose that can be said for most hooks really. You cant do anything about it if they get dinked on a twig, stone or bit of gravel when the carp are moving over your end tackle.
