kidda Posted January 21, 2008 Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 i have to say, its each to their own on this one........ different people will find different hooks better for the situations. my favourite hook for my pop up rig tends to be raptor t-6's in either size 6,7,8. i beleive terry hearn also favours this pattern for his pop ups. ( says so on the packet ) while dave lane prefers longshank hooks for his pop up rigs. try different hooks as each will offer you something that the others may not. If i was using say a coated braid I'd opt' for something with a straight eye. If i was using a stiff material I'd go for something with an out turned eye. carpingod150 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 A wide gape rater than Longshank for pop-ups seems better for me, I've found the fish tend to snatch at the bait, so a hook with a larger gape seems more likely to catch in the mouth. salokcinnodrog Posted January 21, 2008 Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 I like B175's for Pop-ups, or the Super Specialists. Another type of pattern I like is a Hook with an OUT TURNED Eye. This is for when I want the bait tight to the hook shank. I got some Kevin Nash Outpoint hooks ages ago (years) and I'm still running on the last few.
