two friends of mine went just before christmas, think it was late nov. and they had a great time, 9 fish between them biggest at 42lb. they mentioned about how good the service was over there, and i'm pretty sure they've booked a trip again for next/this year. so it can't b too bad

i have to say, its each to their own on this one........ different people will find different hooks better for the situations. my favourite hook for my pop up rig tends to be raptor t-6's in either size 6,7,8. i beleive terry hearn also favours this pattern for his pop ups. ( says so on the packet ) while dave lane prefers longshank hooks for his pop up rigs. try different hooks as each will offer you something that the others may not.

never thought bout using the pva foam this way, normally only use it to keep the hook suspended when fishing over debris like leaves. will give it a try. thanks

thanks for the advice guys, think i'll try a few of the points people ave said to see if i can sort this problem out. and about the sheep comment, i ain't followed no-one, definately not easy led by other peoples rigs. like i said in my original post, i only tried this because the hair kept wrapping round the hook. and this has prevented it from doing do so..... gonna have a fiddle about on my runs water to see if i can sort it out, and improve the rig.

how long would u say to change it to? 5mm? 10mm?

just recently i've been adding a small peice of tubing on the shank of the hook, mainly to help with tangle's as my hair kept wrapping around the hook. but now i seem to be missing 80% of my runs. i'm using a size 8 hooks with the bait sitting 1-2mm from the bottom of the hook. an a 15mm hookbait. how can i improve this rig? bigger hook maybe? size 6

is nutherblank, also discostink? am confused :s

korda wide gape b's are my favourite barbless hook

size 8 swiveld are recommend, but they don't always fit properly. the swivel should pull free under a certain amount of pressure. but should stay fixed inside upon a take occuring.

to tie an hair rig is easy. also practise with some mono till you get it perfect. 1. tie a small loop in one end of your desired hooklength 2. pass your hooklink through the BACK of the eye on your hook 3. wrap your hooklink around the shank of your hook, roughly 5-6 turns is good. 4. pass the hooklink back through the eye on your hook, through the back again ( i may be wrong about passing it through the back rather then the front on step 4 ) your hook should now be held on your hooklink, with what is called a knotless knot which u have just tied. 5. attach your swivel to the opposite end, with a grinner knot, or you could use a double hand loop knot. for these knots look at this months carp.com magazine brian atkins has wrote an article with the grinner knot, and double overhand loop knot in. it even shows u a step by step instructions. hope this helps.....

an alternative to the knotless knot, is the matchmens way of attaching spade end hooks. or even try a knotless knot, with a loop rather than a hair.

[ i can't beleive u said that its just another con. korda don't bring cons out. how many other companys have brougth something to use with maggots?? none!! this is a top peice of kit. will be purchasing some when they come out. as maggots are the killer bait.

i use a back to back blood knot. with the shockleader having 5 twists over the mainline. and the mainline with only three. it seems to fly through the eyes on my rod with no problem!

don't korda do swivel topped method feeders??

i'm completely confident in my knots, its just i thought maybe there was another way of doing this rather than the way i've thought of.

i've recently started using korda inline method feeders, and would like to use them in conjunction with a helicopter set up. but can't get hold of no korda swivel method feeders:( do they sell these? do you have to convert it in some way with another peice of kit from korda? i could attach a swivel to the bottom of my leadcore then thread it through the inline. but i don't feel completely confident...... thanks in advance...

i know of a few venues mainly round the st.helens area tho 1. monastry dam, monastry lane st.helens this a good venue through the summer, with lots of carp showing on the top, and being taken off the top with floatin' baits. not many carp anglers use this venue, besides a few kids. 2. mill dam, mill lane, st.helens. also a good venue, only small in there tho 3. carr mill dam, carr mill road. this is an alright venue too. fairly large water. decent carp in there too i think the largest fish is around the 30-mark 4. st.helens canal, jus on the outside of st.helens town, a good venue also for small carp, heavily fished tho 5. leg-a-mutton dam, just off knowsley road up the side of triplex on the right hand side. also another good venue, heavily fished again tho......... 6. paddock dam, over the road from leg-a-mutton dam this venue is okay, its not held by the same peeps as leg-a-mutton dam thats all i can think of at tho mo............... if i find about any more i'll be sure to let u's know

when fishing the method i like to fish it as a helicopter persentation. i use the korda inline method feeder, but get an extra peice so the top can have a swivel at the top, this i join to my main line. i favor to use the nash helicopter set up. this method works, give it a try
