  1. Could someone please explain to me the purpose of the recoil rig, and how you tie it. Thankyou
  2. Yes i do Thanks Nick youve been a great help and i realy appreciate it At the moment suffix synergy is probably the best in my opinion.
  3. Nige, the lake i am planning on fishy is very silty and i feel by using a supple braid it will offer me a better presentation than my usual stiff combi rigs Any suggestions would be appreciated, thankyou.
  4. After some research and thought into mainlines i am still undecided on which to re spool with. I have narrowed it down to these three lines : Berkley big game Sufix Synergy gt80 I would appreciate some feedback and advise regarding these lines please To save making another thread i will post another question in this thread. Could someone reccomend a decent non coated braid and a way in which to fish with it so that it doesnt tangle? Thanks very much Dan
  5. It might help if you state your location and say how far you are willing to travel
  6. I take it you had no trouble? - did it feel safe? did many go? because there was supposed to be a couple from another forum. Any wiser on the stock? whats the biggest? thanks
  7. I might do a session down there myself. whats the bottom like? Thanks!
  8. Hi mate. Its good to see some thought into rig thinking, however its probably unecessary. What is the theory behind the last rig you posted? You could just glue the boilie to the hook if you wish to create little movement. In order to create a rig its needs a purpose, also You need to think about the sort of lake you are applying the rig to. Rigs will not work on every lake because of the lakebed and the manner in which the carp feed.
  9. Rammed with carp to 50 pound .............. i know what you mean though, its not my sort of water either. All credit to rob hales though. Hes created a place which allows instant anglers to catch huge carp, and hes done well in taking advantage of the demand for these waters. Idealy these arent the sort of waters i wish to see created around the country, however i think its a harsh reality and something we have to put up with p.s if all the noddys congruate in one place it can only be a good thing? ....... it means the waters i like to fish arent going to be as busy no offence luthermax.
  10. ooooops! sorry guys i realy need to start reading the threads properly. lol joe
  11. Could you not type in caps lock please (its deamed as shouting) sorry to nag but i thought i would save someone else from typing it You can put a micro ring on the hair instead of an overhand loop, then tie the bait onto this.
  12. I have fished it once but its not my sort of water, however i read that the match fishing their is in decline because the carp are getting too big for the match tackle - i believe they average 10lb plus now. So they are going to start night fishing there in order to hopefully attract more specimen carpers. As for the stock levels im not sure whether they are going to alter it or not. And i have no idea where you can really pitch a bivvy, from what i can remeber its all wooden platforms. Personally i think they will attract alot of people to fish their, however i doubt proper carpers will bother, too many small fish and too many with mouth damage.
  13. Thanks very much Tony thats really helpfull
  14. Sorry Nick you posted as i was typing.
  15. Thanks Tony i see what you mean, i believe a combi rig means there are two different materials used, therefore the coated braid would be a combi rig as it uses two different materials - the coating and the inner braid. Anyway what are the advantages of the proper combi rig - is it tangle free, ivisible, easier to pick up - this is the one im not sure about. I imagine the supple hair allows it to be picked up easier but not entirely because of the stiff mono. How long should the hair be - i know there isnt a rule but suggestions would be nice. I have another query if someone wouldnt mind answering it - Is fluorocarbon more visible in mucky silty water? Thanks.
  16. To date i have not bothered using a combi rig, instead i have just used coated braids. What are the advantages of the combi rig - and what materials do you find best to tie it. thanks.
  17. If your fishing d-rigs longshank hooks suit best e.g esp stiff riger with the outurned eye, whereas standard pop ups nash fang x with the curved shank.
  18. Its more to do with the pattern of the hook rather than the brand, really for pop ups i believe you want a curved shank but straight eye.
  19. Found a pic, unbelievable. http://www.carp.com/gallery304.html
  20. Before anyone asks i have looked through past threads but i am still not 100% confident about how to use the zig rig. Could anyone suggest some suitable answers for the following questions please. what hooklength would be best for targetting fish between 20lb and 30lb, what size bait - and does the boilie need to be cut down because i am unaware of the advantages of this. I am going to use a flat pear lead do i need a leader behind it? I also read something about not feathering the cast, how come? Any other tips you have up your sleeve i would be very grateful to hear them.
  21. oooops i think we may be in trouble carpinggod lol
  22. I thought that bottom baits would favour running rigs, however i couldnt come up with a reason for it. Im not sure that the fish snatch at pop ups but im sure the bolt rig helps pr1ck the fish better than bottom baits. would be nice to hear from some more of you still.
  23. Do you think the different variations of presenting a bait favour certain setups. e.g do pop ups favour running rigs or bolt rigs. personally i havent noticed much difference, however i dont fish anyway near as much as some members of the forum. Let us know what you think or what you have noticed in the past.
  24. i havent used striptease but heard its pretty good, as for hybrid its supposed to be quite hard to use, therefore if i was you i would use a more supple braid as they are easier to work with if you havent used braid before.
