What rod for floater fishing?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've got a Fox Bolt Bubble (medium). What sort of rod would you pair it with?

My main rods are 2.75lb through action, but I am concerned they would be a bit stiff.

I'm not looking to get to the other side of the lake, just the other side of the feeding fish which will probably be at catapult range.

Thanks.

I prefer a soft through action rod for floater fishing, due to the light lines often used. I use an 11ft 2lb tc shimano aero specimen rod.

….and I in turn turn to an old Ron Thompson Avon/Barbel type rod in , I think , a 1.75 tc in conjunction with Drennan double strength line , 8lb max if memory serves .

A barbel or specialist rod is a very good floater rod
