In France the health system seems to work well but very different from UK.

Every procedure has a government tariff which you must pay, even for a visit to the doctor.

If you qualify, i.e. you are a French national or legally resident, you get a health card which permits you to claim back 75% of costs. Most people take out an insurance policy to cover the extra 25%.

This way you have a very good idea of the value of health care.

It can be a strange feeling handing over a wodge of fivers to the doctor at the end of your consultation but these days’ payments are automated on production of your health card and no money changes hands. This prevents health fraud because, before any major procedure, you have to show means of payment i.e. your health card.

Doctor appointments, are made by phone, internet or visiting the doctor’s receptionist, sometimes for the same day but often for the next day. If you need a specialist, you can choose which one to visit at a hospital or clinic of your choice.

I get a regular check up every three months and am allocated 30 minutes of the doctor’s time (although it can often over run).

So, when your MP starts making excuses for the NHS and proposing privatisation as the solution, point them at France.

We all need to wake up to what is being done to the NHS and soon , John Pilgers documentary ,"the dirty war on the NHS " which i cant find on youtube now , only this trailer , the firesale has been committed by both parties started by Thatcher ,Blair was no better ,we are now approaching the end game sadly and it's a sad reflection of how corrupt our politicians now are and the grip that corporate power has over them , that works against the majority , if anyone stands in their way they get destroyed , as we saw with Corbyn .

So what would happen if you couldn't afford to cover the cost of the procedure? 

Trouble is many brits are already living hand to mouth, as they are getting taxed so heavily and the cost of living is rediculous with property being highly overpriced and wholly not affordable

There are plenty of safeguards for the less well off in France. Additionally, if you have a long lasting condition requiring repeat visits, all your health care is free. 

I feel for the many people in UK who rely on foodbanks just to exist (although Rich Sunac thinks they are just having a cash flow problem!!!). Unfortunately, as a result of recent political decisions, there are a lot more cost to come through yet. The sooner the current muppet show is closed down, the better.

One of the tories biggest failings during this pandemic has been the test and trace app, if you look closely it is now it's being called the NHS test and trace app which is a shift to blame its failure on the NHS, I daresay had it been a success it may have been Boris's test and trace app 🤔

I will say what a pain the track and trace system is 

Loads of phone call everyday and they just don’t let you recover 

I have now removed the app from my phone and will not re install it

I returned from France in September after a family holiday , after i had been in the UK for 8 days i was told that i had to take a pcr test as i had been in close contact with someone on the plane and that a pcr test would be arriving the next day (9 days after the contact ) i didn't need to isolate as i was double jabbed , i would be showing symptoms by then and under the previous rules you only needed to isolate for 10 days after a covid contact , how ridiculous , i told them not to bother , The "Serco track n trace " has been a massive waste of tax payers money , there should be an enquiry into where the money went , judge led and evidence should be given under oath , no chance of that happening any time soon ! £37 billion was it ? that's more than  £500 for every person in the UK , what what the cost of the Apple ap which the buffoon turned down as he wanted a "world beating track n trace system " , in his words !

This government blaming the NHS or other utility for shortfalls is totally the governments fault. 

The government have not increased sizes or built new prisons, but settled for privatising them. Exactly the same for the NHS, water companies, even British Rail.

 

British Rail was in the midst of modernisation when it was privatised. Lines were being electrified, locomotives and coaches were being upgraded. Britain had become the 2nd most modern in the world behind Japan (!), and 2nd most successful on timekeeping and profit in Europe behind only Germany. 

Strangely the Big 4 rail companies in the UK were nationalised in the first place exactly because they were putting profit over safety and service back in the days of steam. British Rail back then didn't want to modernise but had no choice as the 1960/70's came. 

Too many providers are behind the population. By that I mean we have a population of around 65million,yet hospitals that can only cater for 45million, prisons that can cater for the criminal percentage of 45million, not 65million.

It is exactly the same for the water infrastructure, and we are still not adding additional infrastructure for new builds. 

I believe Bazalgette catered for a London population of 4million back in Victorian times (double the actual of the time) yet the population is now over 10million and can't cope. The London sewerage system being increased is a high profile to hide other failures. 

Sussex water pumping and piping sewage 2miles out to sea to hide it. If it is clean fresh water why is it not going back inland to be used for irrigation?

'Storm Overflow' - the legal dumping of raw sewage into our rivers.  Said to be a measure for dealing with rare weather occurrences, but water companies have been seen to do this for six months non stop, utter disgrace!
