smufter
well in mate, best of luck and enjoy the rest of your holiday Only a couple of days left to go... had another 31lb common out this morning on freshwater shrimp. Absolutely stunning fish, lean mean fighting machine. No gutbuckets in this lake. Sadly I didn't get a photo as it took an age to remove the hook and I just wanted to get her back in the water. nealjt and bivvystreet

Drove down via Calais, took about five hours driving "sensibly". Drive back home on Saturday. Not looking forward to leaving, we love it here. Â let us know how much hassle it is coming back thru Calais bud, im dreading it myself, from just outside Montpelier back to Calais will be a 12 hour drive but then to get hassle off the mob would put the mockers on my buoyant mood Edited July 13, 2016 by cyborx

smufter
We are quite close to a largish town called Chateau Gontier with decent shopping, restaurants and river trips. There's a swimming pool there and a small zoo. Other than that it's driving around the local area or just soaking up the sun  Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk newmarket
smufter
Up really early this morning courtesy of the locals in the nearby village still celebrating Bastille day until 4.30am!! Really odd as between the music they're playing you can hear an owl hooting in the woods surrounding the lake! Last day today, I can hear the bigger residents of the lake crashing out in the darkness. Pulled out the same 33lb mirror yesterday that I had caught the evening before! Just getting light enough to fish now so will update later. Wish me luck!! Â Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk
smufter
Well, I was due a "blank" session, and it just so happened to be the last day! Had a couple of runs during the morning, but missed both of them due to poor timing. I put it down to the fact that I was very tired after 26 sessions on the trot. Very hot day, so I packed up a bit earlier than normal and had a lazy day around the gite. Took the bailiff and his wife out for a nice meal in Chateau Gontier later in the day with the intention of fishing afterwards into darkness, but to be honest although I put my rods out, I couldn't really be bothered anymore and called it a night around 9pm. So all in all a great fortnights holiday. Weather was "okay" for fishing, thankfully not as blisteringly hot as last year, but nice enough for the wife to come back with a good tan. Fair number of fish caught, biggest was my twice banked Mirror at 33lb, with Tom's Common at 32 being the second largest. Unfortunately my daughter Lydia didn't beat her personal best, but it wasn't through the lack of trying. She hooked into one really big fish but lost it on the way to the net. Tom, her boyfriend, wasn't really into carp fishing before the trip, he had just bought light gear with him to fish for roach and smaller carp, but I set him up with my spare rods and reels and as I say, he caught a 32lb Common. He is now hooked, and is in the process of buying all his own gear and definitely wants to come again next year. Thanks for all your comments and "likes" lads. Much appreciated. Now home safe and sound and have work to look forward to in the morning....
