snowmanstevo Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 in the days of Nobby and Bobby, the opposition just to be the ones going down.Sorry I don't follow Quote
muftyboy Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 See that's the thing Mufty.... Do we keep our integrity and fail miserablely or do we just cheat like the others .... Glenn Hoodle told the players in France 98 that if your touched you go down no matter where you are Quote
muftyboy Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Bobby Moore, Jack Charlton, Nobby Styles, Norman Hunter, somebody once joked, Norman had the best left foot in international football, but nobody could remember who it belonged to, they shall not pass, a real defence with Banks behind them. But it was a different game back then, you can only get away with so much these days, that's why we need to be a bit more clever and sneaky like other teams. Quote

Food for thought eh Steve .... Imaging Messi or Ronaldo calling it a day at that age coz real "real men " played the game in them days..... Real mean play rugby Quote
dalthegooner Posted March 29, 2015 Author Report Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Football is a much more skilful game now than in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Messi is head and shoulders above anyone else who has ever kicked a ball and I for one am glad that the proverbial hatchet man has been taken out of the game to allow him, and players like him, to flourish. snowmanstevo Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 And many more Steve although Mr Clough would disagree ..... Why do you think that most players called it a day on "your era" when they was 31/32. .... The hatchet men had there day .... Goalposts for jumpers is par boiled for boilies Quote

I agree Messi is brilliant but for me Maradona is the best, done what Messi does while getting lumps kicked out of him, and played most of his career high on cocaine, imagine how good he would of been if he was straight. snowmanstevo 1 Quote
snowmanstevo Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 When he played for Napoli they use to put 4 players on him and he still won them the league..... Handball merchant tho muftyboy 1 Quote
bivvystreet Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 It would have to be Maradonna for me as well, best finisher Marco van Baston. Quote
bivvystreet Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 I was actually in Düsseldorf in 88 when van Basten put us out the euros with a hat trick, makes me feel old now, great player though snowmanstevo 1 Quote
bivvystreet Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 England played well actually, van Basten was the difference. It's funny how time can change things,I remember being gutted at the time but now I just feel privileged to have seen him at his best Quote

newmarket Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 Dal & Stevo Whats your honest appraisal of saturdays game ? Tbh im looking for a one-off betting opportunity . I cant see l'arse losing but can the scousers nick a point ? Quote
dalthegooner Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 Home win for me. If it were at Anfield I'd probably go the other way, but it's at the Emirates. No Sturridge for the 'pool either. I wouldn't bet money on it though. Both teams have put in cracking performances and shocking performances this season; so its by no means a cert at all. Quote
snowmanstevo Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 I'd give Arsenal the edge .... There at home, there in good form and the loss of Studge and Skirtle will have more of an impact than Gerrard not playing..... In saying that I think we're good enough to nick a point Quote
bivvystreet Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 Sterling reported to have turned down £100,000 a week,do we think it's greed or wanting silverware ? Quote
newmarket Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 He aint that good yet is he Stevo ? Wheres he going to go thats better without sitting on the bench half the time ? Quote
snowmanstevo Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 Thing Sterling needs to realise is the way Liverpool play, plays to his strengths. Don't get me wrong the lad is a talent, but his 1st touch is average at best, but I'd rather have him for me than against me. Cash in now I say, Arsenal, City and Chelsea have all been mentioned as have Bayern and Real. If he did go to Arsenal (and no offence to Dal) but theve not exactly been flowing with silverware bar last year and would make a mockery of success before money statement Quote
dalthegooner Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 I'd sign him. He's young, he's talented and he's only going to get better. What's not to like snowmanstevo 1 Quote
newmarket Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 We'll have him , swap him for Nolan . Sure he'd love to go back home . I'd donate my fishing licence fund for his taxi Quote
newmarket Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Well here we go , back to some semblance of normality footie-wise . My predictions for the weekend ? Routine victories for Citeh , United & the Plastics . Narrow win for LeArse My lot ? They're on the beach already and with no managerial inspiration versus a team battling for their lives. Leicester 3-0 Quote
dalthegooner Posted April 4, 2015 Author Report Posted April 4, 2015 What a great game of football. Revenge for last seasons drubbing at Anfield is SWEET  Further proof that the Premier League is, without doubt, the best league in the world Quote
dalthegooner Posted April 4, 2015 Author Report Posted April 4, 2015 Leicester take the lead against Wet Spam. With Wet Spam being safe, I hope Leicester nick all 3 points today. Quote
