  1. The carp zone beds are top draw and a lot cheaper than more well known brands. https://www.carp-zone.co.uk/carpzone-lake-lounger-plus-bedchair.html
  2. Well after reading the last few posts i have been listening to these guys, at least the people in the republic seem to have moved on. cracking bit of humor.
  3. Best off phoning a few rod builders and speaking direct, i would imagine it will be quite expensive, for the builder the labor hours will be the same as doing a new set of rods, i have heard Fosters of Birmingham offer a good service, you could do it yourself, plenty of videos on the net to follow, you can always strip them back and do them again if you are not happy with your work the first time around.
  4. Just got a copy of the first book, read it before when it was serialised in CW, looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
  5. If you can find a place that will do it at a price you are happy with, i'd stick with the Harrisons.
  6. Funnily enough, i bought for the odd occasion the mrs might come with me, she never has though, but yes i could get two beds in, you might need the extra skin to keep the condensation out as with two beds, you might be touching the sides a bit.
  7. I use the JRC contact 2 man, cant fault it, had it a number of years now and still going strong.
  8. Drones are already banned on my water, the guys on Carpcast mentioned that more waters are starting to ban all electronic aids, such as baitboats and fish finders? Saying that, baitboats have been banned on Kingsbury for a number of years now, still see people using them though.
  9. Linears's is in a nice part of South UK, although known for carp angling, they have all sorts in their waters and large carp, be a good place for anyone into their first year of angling. http://www.linear-fisheries.co.uk/
  10. Long rods are not just about the cast and even at 5',6'' you would soon get used to how to get the best out of a cast, longer rods also give a better line pick up when fishing at distance, making putting the hook home on the take more of a guarantee than a shorter rod, 12 foot is ideal for most waters in this country and they would be fine with your height, i'm only 5'8'' ish myself.
  11. Yeah i'm in Tile Hill. That's the farm i was on about, the farm is run by a real nice family, i have never been charged for fishing there, but they often come around to see what you have had out, they built some houses on the land a few years back, haven't been since then. I might do a bit over that way myself this year, either Stockton or Napton, i have been going down to Northampton this last year, going to try to keep that ticket for over-nighters and do some days local.
  12. Unlucky, that lake behind the blue liars pub used to be a top notch syndicate water, the old pub owner used to run it for him and his mates. There is also a farm near the pub, i think it is called clay pits farm, they have a small pond that is nice to fish, there used to be some nice old carp in there. Forgot to say yesterday, if you do go barston you will need to take ID and join their club, it's free they want to know who is fishing on their lake, if they are still doing that?
  13. Barston or Makins would be your best bet, walked around barston today, fairly busy for the time of the year, by early afternoon there was a lot of fish activity at the very far end of the lake, i was surprised by the amount of scum and bubbles on the surface, right tight to the reeds in a long line, no one was fishing that far down, and you have the deepest water at that end of the lake.
  14. I can second the Argos brollies, if you are only doing days the one with sides is ideal and a bargain.
  15. I'm not too sure on the forum rules for selling stuff, so i didn't link it, if you look on the west midlands gumtree you will see both adds in the fishing tackle section. All the end tackle is top brand goods too.
  16. The same guy also has other adds on GT, seems he is closing a shop of some sorts, got eight grands worth of unused end tackle up for sale, wants 3500 for that. Just shows how low the resale value of fishing gear is, a lot on here thought it might be a bit dodgy at that price,
  17. I doubt it is nicked, too many boxes with reels and spare spools, plus the guy is selling from his home address, now if he wanted to meet in a pub car park or a service station, that would raise an eyebrow or two.
  18. 19. Had some cracking deals from the car boot, Gumtree is another good one, there is a add on the west mids page for all you would ever need, all top of the range kit, the guy wants 1800 quid but is open to offers as he wants rid as they say, everything looks brand new. Plus you get to pick items up from the sellers home.
  20. 1 Baitrunner 6010 dl 2 15 lb tiger line no leader 3 50-60 yards 4 6 acres 5 12' JRC contacts 3lb and one in 2 3/4 lb
  21. Stay away from the neoprene ones, they soak everything they come into contact with and take an age to dry out.
  22. I have seen a few of the gas ones on the bank, i think if you are sensible with it, don't close the doors or fall asleep with it on, you should be ok. The best idea i have seen in use, is a silent generator and one of those halogen heaters, although, your idea of silent might be completely different to the bloke a few pegs up from the genny.
  23. Went with a set a neoprene waders, should of got the rubber ones, as they don't take as long to dry on the outside, if you do get the neoprene ones, don't go in the bivvy with them on, you will soak everything... lol.
  24. Keep an eye on gumtree they come up every now and then, just make sure you check it over before buying, the stage stand by BZS on amazon are ok and the price is unbeatable.
  25. Fished it years ago when it first opened for angling, Not too sure which pool is which, i fished the bottom pool furthest from the top car park. Using a float rod would get some big carp and tench on the bank, a few guys i know still fish there in the summer, they free-line big lumps of bread and jam on the bottom and have a fair few fish out, there are some biggies in there these days, so i'm told.
