  1. The only lake that springs to mind in Pembury is the one down Chalket Lane, (almost opposite Lower Green Road). There are a couple of lakes down there, the main one on the right as you drive down has some decent sized carp in there, but if you carry on a bit further there are two smaller lakes and this is where the gate and concrete structure you mention are. There as some carp in the other smaller lakes, also some decent sized Perch as well. I've fished all three many (many) years ago. I visited the main lake again a couple of years ago, as I say there are some decent carp in there but the place, unfortunately, is rat infested. Loads of rubbish left on the banks for them to dig around in. It was bad enough during the day, I certainly wouldn't want to be there after dark!!
  2. Happy Tempest owner here....... 😁😁😁 Bags of room, doddle to put up/take down. On a flat calm day you don't even need to peg it out. I'll be taking it down to France with me next year, rather than the bivvy.
  3. Personal preference I guess. I just don't like beaked points.... 😉
  4. I used them in France and they are great. The only reason I don't continue using them over here is that "my" syndicate is micro barbed only, they don't allow barbless. I had no problems with them at all. I tried the wide gape version initially but preferred the straight points if I'm honest. They are a good size too.... not too big. The size 4's are perfect. They are very sharp too, straight out of the pkt. And they stayed sharp... https://www.pallatrax.co.uk/product/gripz-straight-point-hooks/
  5. Comedy of errors or what?? Aggressive take, hooked into a nice fish, made straight for the pads. Steve the bailiff kindly boated out and freed it, I got the net under it and lifted it out. Unhooked it and layed it on the weigh sling. Lifted it up to get the net out from under it so I could weigh it, it suddenly found a second wind, and ended up diving into the lake. Feel like giving up today!!! 😖😖😖
  6. Just arrived. Report to follow 😁
  7. That's why I always use running rigs..... very safe. 👍

    August catches

I've traditionally gone in July as the wife comes with me, we rent a Gite and the nice weather gives her something to look forward to. But with mates on a drive 'n survive I'll never go in July again. Temps in the mid 30's, way too hot, and plagued by mozzies. Had to sleep in the car on a couple of nights to get away from them they were that bad. I've booked early June for next year and looking at May the year after. Only problem with May is that we may run into spawning. I'd love to go in September but my work don't allow holidays during that month....🙄
  10. It's going to be interesting to see how long the batteries last in the Delks. The EV+ models have the "night marking" LED's which aren't switchable, so they are permanently on even during daylight hours. Plug the slimlite bobbins in, and they are also on all the time.
  11. I use 4's for the vast majority of my fishing, Only time I will go down to a 6 is if fishing pop ups. Biggest hook bait I'll use is 16mm but it's normally 14's. But some size 4's are massive compared to others. Bank Tackle size 4's are perfect (for me).
  12. I have only spoken to them via messages on their FB page. The guy that I "spoke" to confirmed that they don't have a separate "drop back" indication, so they should all stay illuminated for the same amount of time (around 10 seconds), although there can be slight differences due to the components used. Like I say, I'm not bothered too much, certainly not enough to start sending them back at this stage, and it only seems to be the one that is doing it. Other than this small hiccup, I'm really pleased with them, although I've only used them a couple of times. Using them with the slimlites give a great indication of what's going on at the business end. It was a little windy on Tuesday so I used the duocarb arms to hold the bobbins in place, and they too work well. Obviously not used them in the rain yet.... so only time will tell lol!!
  13. Funny thing is, after posting the original question, I tried them out at home. Set them all off together and sure enough they all went out almost simultaneously. They all stayed on for about 10 seconds or thereabouts. Tried it half a dozen times, and same thing. Yet on Monday night I had a liner on one of my rods. Alarm lit up, and stayed on for an eternity. Well, it seemed like an eternity, but I guess was about 30 seconds or so. I kept saying to myself "go out, go out" but it stayed on!! Really weird. Not enough for me to want to send them back, but I will keep an eye on it to make sure it's the same one doing it every time.
  14. Free Spirits mate. Come with 'em. Quite handy in the dark, useless during daylight 😉😉😉
  15. Yes mate. Pulled my rods off the lillys now its dark
  16. Out tonight for a rare 24...... fingers crossed
  17. Personally, I prefer fishing a smaller lake. But I think 4 to fish is the "magic" number. Less than that, and you are severely limiting your target audience. As long as it has some features, is not choked with weed, and has a reasonable head of "decent" carp to make a trip worthwhile, it's worth a bash. And by "decent" I don't mean they have to be 50+ but nobody is going to travel to France to pull of low doubles or twenties. 😉
  18. Mate of mine who came to Beauregard with us this year copied these instructions and made some up. He was well chuffed with them and caught a 50lb Common utilising them (not that the poles had anything to do with actually catching the fish lol!). Just shows you what an inventive mind and a bit of time can do.....
  19. Trust me. It's spamming. And another mate of yours has just started elsewhere......
  20. Remote operational life (with quality new batteries) is approximately 13 hours/46,800 button presses That's me out. That's only 3,600 button presses an hour. I'd get bored.
