  1. Hi Neal and Spr Rather than fish a Zig from the lake bottom up towards the surface why not float fish a boilie from the surface downwards , adjusting the depth until you get a bite ? .
  2. Go Spr! . Hope you're managing to keep warm , it looks a very open water , and the wind is cold today in Suffolk . At least it's dry ! .
  3. Well Neal tomorrow I'm finally venturing out fishing for the first time since December , as it's finally probably warm enough for me . However , you've been out there for months , and you're not quitting . So I would like to think if anyone from the forum did recognise you down at Bayeswater they'd say " you're the bloke with balls that's just not giving up ! " I do like Yonnys' idea of always having a lead about at the end of a session , especially when he has had some kind of action .
  4. Hi Neal , damn right you can't give up , this thread has had 3,561 views and they can't all be Spr and me ! . Everyone is waiting for the next exciting episode of Neal v Bayeswater . Did Neal's dog mistake him for an intruder and eat him ? . Will Neal decide to sell all his Fishing Gear and donate the proceeds to the Church Roof Restoration Fund ? . And another thing Neal , you persuaded Spr to start fishing at Bayeswater , even 6ft. plus , hairy , tatooed blokes have feelings ! .
  5. Well I have questions Neal . Are you nursing a huge Carp ? . Are you nursing a full stomach after your Wife delivered a 5 course meal ? . Or are you nursing a black eye after you tried to sneak into the marital bed and woke your Wife up ? .
  6. Go lads ! . Your Wife will just have to deliver your Lunch to the lake , won't she Neal ! .
  7. Wrong club lads , wrong club ! . Regroup and have another go , you're sooo close . Go Neal and Spr ! .
  8. Ah , so is it your plan to intercept the Carp on their patrol route with a single ( pop up ? ) boilie Neal ? . Did you take Yonnys' advice and check out what you were fishing over , or was the weed and Swan attached to your cage feeder when you reeled in ? . It all sounds positive . Hopefully where there's 1 Swan Mussel there's more and as Nick and others have said if you find a natural larder fish next to it .
  9. Oh dear , oh dear , oh dear ! , it sounds as though Spr came along too late to put you straight about your bite alarms - you could have had a bite while you were sleeping dude ! . On the positive side you seem to have worked out how to locate the Carp , and they are feeding on your bait ( ? ) . Just stay awake next time , or turn your bite alarms on ! .
  10. I want to see them , 1 at a time , on your unhooking mat with your grinning face ! . Go Neal ! .
  11. Good luck for Saturday Neal , and hopefully you'll meet up with Spr . Then together you can " unlock " Bayeswater .
  12. Hi Ginger I've been waiting for someone to reply to you , as I haven't fished there for 30 years plus so I can't give you any up to date info. I don't know if there is anything on Youtube , but there was a Korda Roadshow there a few years ago . I hope you find something .
  13. Superfly , superstar , how many Carp have you caught so far ? .
  14. Hi Neal and Spr I use Polaris Floats more than I ledger for exactly the reasons you describe Neal . One problem I get is that when the float goes under it all happens fairly quickly with little , if any prior warning . I know it sounds nuts , but I use a Bite Alarm to give me an audible warning just in case I am not gazing intently at my float ! . It's a shame the 19th is a Saturday , I have to work Saturdays , but hopefully you and Spr will meet up . So how did an agnostic and a church goer get together , and don't the congregation object to a smelly , unshaven fisherman loitering in their kitchen ? .
  15. Hi Neal What Spr has said . Maybe some marker rod work if nothings happening , and / or conditions aren't favourable , or just do the marker work as an investment for future sessions ? . I expect someone will come along with the definitive answer . Have either of you two got any dates you are working towards ? .
  16. Boilecrazy you just keep catching big lumps , don't you feel like catching something small for a change ? . Maybe I need an elegant hat , Superfly wears hats as well .
  17. Well you really are a glass half full kind of guy Neal . When , not if , you succeed you'll have damn well earned it for being so persistent and positive ! . Just make sure you still have some working fingers left !
  18. Nothing from Neal since 4:25 P.M. , I hope the swans haven't eaten him ! .
  19. O.K. Neal , I'm awake , eating my breakfast in my centrally heated house , where's my live update ? .
  20. Roll on tomorrow then ! . Hopefully you'll get some quality sleep ready to concentrate on the lake in the morning . As you say Neal at least you will gather more information to help you build up to getting amongst them .
  21. Hi Neal Like Spr says don't waste your petrol if you are there already . If the lake's very busy why not watch what the other anglers are doing like a hawk , and not try and be noble i.e. if someone catches go and congratulate them on their catch while getting a sneaky look at their rig and / or their bait . Is that so bad ? , the angler who catches may be chuffed that you are happy for him and you've got an idea what to try when you are in a " better " swim - it's not as though you are going to cast into their part of the lake ! . Keep warm , and tight lines .
  22. Hello Yonny The size 4 and 6 barbless in Neals' 'photo look pretty strong , could you go into a bit more detail as to why you wouldn't use a fly hook for Carp please . Ta
  23. Hi Dayvid There's a friendly Robin down my local lake . I've bought some mealworms , and I hope with patience to have him / her feeding from my hand .
