  1. Personally I'd fish locked up and sit on your rods. Don't give them an inch of line.
  2. Your first sentence summed it up for me. "You got in a peg you fancied", which tells me you had a preconceived idea of where you wanted to go and therefore not have good look around and try and find fish (apologies if I've got that wrong). I've done the exact same on overnighters and my catches were few and far between. I found overnighters hard work, to the extent that they would mess up my weekends fishing as id be so tired. Hope you get lucky next time.
  3. I'm guessing he will only recommend his own liquid additives to enhance nutritional values in his bait, thats if they need it as his base mixes and recipes are on point already. Most of, if not all his base mixes have recommended recipes. Adding stuff for the sake of it can have a negative effect on bait and also on your pocket, sometimes less is more. I've used his stuff in the past and caught on it.
  4. Not surprised youve been in your own bubble. Tough times indeed but family certainly helps as does some you time at the lakeside. Also don't ever be afraid to talk to someone if you're affected by your friends passing. One of my closest mates has been battling cancer for the last 2yrs. Things seemed to be going well but it's now come back and it has attached itself to his cartoid artery at the base of his skull (the blood supply to the brain) and its now incurable. Chances are he won't make the summer. So definitely focus on yourself and your nearest and dearest. Fishing is a great escape but so is being around loved ones, make the most of both.
  5. I used to make enough paste to fill the bait gun and that's it. So instead of doing 6eggs or in your case 10eggs at once , I did say 2 eggs at a time. Don't get me wrong, I would blitz say 30 eggs at a time, add liquids etc and I worked out that 150ml of the egg mix plus base mix would fill the gun perfectly. It meant I did say 12 mixes instead of 5 but I had no paste sitting and therefore drying out/ stiffening up. .
  6. I did a fair few work over nighters and totally messed them up. I was always in a rush to set up and I'd never go further than half way up the lake to save a long walk back to the car park in the morning (not ideal when more often than not the fish were up the other end). So as with any session, don't rush and find them first or you are just wasting your time in my opinion. I'd pack up in the morning saying to myself "at least you got some bait in" 🤣
  7. When rolling my own baits I've only ever used wpc (whey protein concentrate) as my main binder binder.

It's not like social media or any kind of media to twist a storyline is it 🤣.

Surely the BBC should be on your list along with Kyle, farage etc?
  10. Some cracking silver bars there mate. 👌
  11. That would have been good to have a session or two but yes a long way apart sadly. Im guessing you mean tackle/set up so hope you get sorted out soon mate. And totally get what you're saying, I've got a buzz about sea fishing that I hadn't felt in my carp fishing for a fair few years. Tight lines
  12. I'm 90mins drive from my nearest beach, that can be from Brighton in West Sussex through to Southbourne in east dorset. Luckily i have 3 very good and renowned Tope beaches inbetween Brighton and East Dorset so I know where I'll be heading. Already got the first 2 weeks of May booked off. One week on Chesil beach for the plaice and hounds and the second week in West Sussex after tope. Can't wait.
  13. It's exactly like that. Never had a fight like it, flat-rodded over and over again, god knows how much line it stripped on each run. Its a pure adrenaline rush I know that much.
  14. I've got a mate who owns a bed and breakfast up in Criccieth, I keep thinking of going up there for a week next year. Seen plenty of reports from Llandudno as well. My next year's target though is to get into some Tope. I had one this year, not that I was fishing for them but boy what a fight and what a fish. I need to catch me another one. Good luck in your venture.
  15. Exactly the same for me, fell out love with carp fishing and with what it had become. I took my spod rod down the coast one day, brought some ready tied rigs and not looked back since, that was 4yrs ago now. Last year was the first time id not carp fished for the entire year and the same this year. And like you it involves lots more driving, I fish the south coast and my nearest beach is an 80min drive but It doesn't bother me. Whereabouts do you fish from the beach?
  16. Would certainly make you think that something has changed wouldn't it. Everything has gone up in cost including all bait ingredients, the delivery cost on them etc, the import tax on it and yet the price has come down. 🤔 I wonder if catch rates have gone down on it.
  17. Congratulations. Hope mum and baby are doing well.
  18. Makes me laugh when people want to ban this that and the other because it "might" cause fish damage or death and yet they are more than happy to put a hook into a fish (causing damage) , drag it from its watery home causing untold stress and who knows possibly death and then put it back. The thing with those rigs are they have been put together by the uneducated. A tail rubber jammed on will not drop the lead and yet I've never seen on a korda dvd (other tackle manufacturers are available) one of the blokes jamming on a tail rubber so you can't blame the manufacturer.
  19. I've got the special forces 2 sleeping bag and the Antarctica sleeping bag, both are excellent, but depends on your budget obviously.
  20. You don't get anymore compact than a Snugpak sleeping bag
  21. Well OK, I bought a sasquatch coat in xxl and its huge, i reckon an xl would still be slightly too big. So an L might have been OK if I'm honest. All I know is I've never been cold in it and only wear a tshirt under it.
  22. As already said, I found them to be generous in size.
  23. Sea fishing, Tope Undulate ray Smoothhound Freshwater, Carp Tench Perch From both, Tope Carp Undulate ray
  24. I feel your pain, been there and done it. Hopefully that's the end of it for you. I learned the hard way, kept forking out on a motor and in the long run I spent more than it was worth 3 fold and when I did sell it all the work I had done on it didn't add any value. Next motor I brought was nearly new and suffice to say you get what you pay for. 🤞 for you and the motor.
