  1. were you threading the mainline through the lead swivel or using a run ring mate. mufty
  2. . cheers pearbo, i always fish at least one rod on the method now so thats a good starting point, im thinking about having a go for the perch on one rod as there is supposed to be some big old stripeys in there, can you drive close to your swims there mate or is it a trek. cheers mufty
  3. they allways look great on the website , its a bit bigger than im used to fishing , have to get some casting practise in case i need it. mufty
  4. good evening. has anybody got any experience of catch 22 in norfolk, thinking of doing a couple of days there before xmas ( weather permitting) so any info would be appreciated. cheers mufty
  5. hi mate, have a look at brittany mills, its all inclusive , they suppy all your fishing gear exept reels and terminal tackle, bring breakfast and lunch to your swim and then pick you up for the evening meal back at the house, the fishing is pretty good too. mufty
  6. The fish in my area go to around the 22lb mark I believe perhaps 25lb. Not that I can catch them i would say that unless your snag fishing then 12lb would be fine, also i have found that one certain hook works great with the iq2 and that is the solar wide gape x, my catch to run ratio has improved so much since i used this combo. mufty
  7. i used to use iq but changed to iq2 this year and have to say my catch rate has improved and the hookholds are better, never had problems with iq2 tangling either. mufty I think i'll go for the IQ2 then, would 12lb be enough or should I opt for 15lb? i use 12lb and never had a problem, i suppose it depends on the size of fish you fishing for, mufty
  8. i used to use iq but changed to iq2 this year and have to say my catch rate has improved and the hookholds are better, never had problems with iq2 tangling either. mufty
  9. have you thought of trying crayfish tails as bait, you can buy em in morrisons i think or catch a cray and use a nice fresh one. mufty
  10. a bit harsh mate, like he said they were in with a load of other stuff. mufty
  11. i had a run 1st cast but lost it, nothing after that mate, i think i was using halibut pellet on one and homemade boilies on the other, cant remember what one i had the run on though.
  12. i fished the speci lake 3-4 years ago , its very small mate, the owner told me there were 27 carp in there , mostly over twenty and a handful over 30, but like i say that was a few years back. mufty.
  13. I don't agree. Most of my fishing is with size 4s, regardless of bait. same as. I want a big bit of metal to nail'em, regardless the size of hookbait. Size 4's & 5's my favourites. Infact done 1 season using size 2's. They didnt get away;-) did your catch and run rate improve when you changed to bigger hooks? mufty
  14. ive used it as a combi link with silkworm, its a bit of a git to tie mate, its like rope, i also rub some mud up and down it to darken it up a bit. mufty
  15. i have done quite well on small baits with long hairs and size 6 hooks in the past, especially on cold winter days when all my friends have struggled for bites. mufty
  16. personally i like a long hair , i like to have a lot of separation between bait and hook , i like to think that it gives better hooking potential but im sure there will be people who disagree.
  17. in theory it is mate but i was just trying to think of something different that might get you a couple of extra bites on them tough days. with 2 hairs you could use a milk protien bait on one and a fishmeal on the other then bait up with both, then if the carp on that particular day have a preference for say the fishmeal over the milk then you may give yourself a better chance of catching. the main concern for me is the presentation and hooking potentail of such a rig, perhaps a visit to a runs water with 1 rod on a convential snowman and 1 on the double hair is the way forward. mufty
  18. how? your only using a bit of extra bait not any more metal or hooks
  19. i was wondering about tangles but was thinking the use of pva could cure this. i am thinking about ways of using 2 or even more different baits with lots of different attraction and food sources on 1 rig to create the upmost attraction, i did once use 2 different bottom baits cut in to discs then mounted on the hair with a high attract pop up which caught me a few fish, dont know why i stopped doing this mufty
  20. oi oi, was just wondering on peoples thoughts on using more than 1 hair on a rig, maybe 2 totally different baits or 1 bottom bait and 1 pop up, has anybody ever tried this and do you think it could have better hooking potential by making the rig harder to eject or have a negative effect mufty
  21. look at brittany mills mate , they have everything you have described
  22. i agree that it is not an easy lake but i think its more due to the lake not being fished for so long and the carp feeding on naturals for so long, the majority of carp we have had from there have been caught on maggots. a couple of weeks ago i had a look around with my boat and sonar and trust me there are plenty of carp in there. mufty
  23. hi mate, you have the darenth complex near you, they have decent sized carp and massive cats in most of there lakes, also the big lake and tip lake are sydicates. mufty
  24. Brittany mills do an all inclusive package, supply all the gear apart from your reels and end tackle, and the food is exellent. mufty
