I fished sheepy a couple of years ago. Its the one with the restaurant behind it. The scouse chick in the cafe does a mean bacon and egg sarnie. I heard a lot of fish died when it froze over last year.

The specimen pool isnt all that big and you would be surprised that there were big fish in it. If you are going to fish it then you will need to use a bigger bait, if you have some boilies then i suggest you wack a big handfull into a bucket of water and let them washout until sunday. If you are going to use maggots on a match anglers hook then i suggest you take a walk around the main lake and fish the very near margins with a big hookfull of wrigglers. You might also try the other lake at the far end of the venue (cant remember name of it) but it has some lovely fish in it and isnt hammered as much as the main lake. dont forget to buy a bacon sarnie in the cafe and give my love to Debbie if she comes round with the tickets.

If you go round to the far side and fish the margins really quietly you might get a nice surprise. Most anglers there will sit on the cafe side and fish to the visable feature, this puts lines through most of the water and all the fish swim off to the far side. Keep your hooks small and use a washed out bait on a long hair. oh and welcome to the site.

Oh yeah sorry I forgot myself for a moment there. I was actually thinking about all the travelling for the convalescing wife, not the size of the fish he MIGHT catch.

I have used diced carrot for the last three or four years and recently i have been snaffling the diced beetroot from the harvester salad bar, it makes a pleasant change from corn and it blends in a bit better with the deck so the swans dont get it either. Add the beetroot juice to your spod mix im sure it will make a great cloud.

Ive just spent 30 mins looking at both of them on the interweb and if it was me I would be fishing Tockenham resi. Coate looks like a big water with a small amount of carp in and I think you will be having lots of long hours without a hint of a carp, then there is the toilet issue for you as well Tockenham has loads of bushes and trees and is not a public park so you should be able to nip behind a tree for a wee without getting embarrassed in front of the lady joggers or having your kit nicked by "da DF racer boy krew" innit. which one would Brian Jarret fish?

I have tried a double hair before. I tied a d rig set up with a rig ring then had a very short length of line going through the ring which had a loop at each end. One boilie sat on each loop. It didnt affect my catch rates as far as I was concerned.

If you use foam as the "bait" then give it a quick dip and squeeze in a glug of some sort. Where abouts are you going to?

I travel all over the UK and I love fishing new venues. I would be happy to travel down to Newbury and fish somewhere. Im one of the safe ones lol.

I mostly use the stuff from Carp Craze cos its cheap and you get loads.

er why is filling a bit of a solid bag then putting your lead in the Korda way? Did you get a load of Korda stuff for christmas or summit lol. As you evolve along your carp career you will soon realise that Korda are not the be all and end all of carp fishing gizmos. There are other ways of catching our quarry apart from long distance spodding the granny with loads of expensive munga. Do you shout GET IN when you catch a carp ?

Ive looked on the interweb and had a search through our forum but is there any other venues near Wincanton apart from Todber and Coking Farm? If there is any local knowledge out there it would be appreciated. Suggestions and thoughts on Todber or Coking would also be very well appreciated. Im not looking for specific tactics advice or your best kept secret just a general point in the right direction. I will be in the area fri 25 - sun 27th Jan 13. Cheers in advance

The government will give in to the RSPB and the Antis and open it as an otter and cormorant sanctuary because there is plenty of food in there for them. Then in a few years when the train line idea gets binned they will advertise it as a top class fishery for sale.

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum. I havent fished at Dents but after having an internet recce I would start with pellets and paste in the margins, then start feeding an area about three or four sections out with pellets and fish shallow gradually going deeper until you find the fish. Remember if you feed large amounts they will be near the deck but if you feed low amounts they will move up in the water to intercept the pellets before their mates. Alternative baits corn and meat. Dont forget to pop into the shop and get info from them too. Its going to be colder at the weekend so wrap up warm.
