  1. I've done a search for Raker, but found no useful info i'm afraid Most of the previous questions had no replies. Have none of our members fished here befor
  2. Is this any help? http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=36743&highlight=nene

    Lead wire

Two questions. Can anyone tell me where i can find some dark lead wire? All the stuff i've seen is horrible bright shiny stuff Secondly, & more importantly, is it really safe to use? I've only used shot or putty befor & i'm a little concerned that wire coiled around the rig may not be good against a Carps scales. What are your thoughts on this?
  4. Give the owner a call. He's a top bloke & he'll give you more than enough info
  5. Leighton has so much debris on the lake bottom, it's essential that you mask the point of the hook. Dissolving foam or mesh sticks/bags do the job well. Keep off the boards as much as possible & you can catch 'em within a foot of the pegs. As for bait, any good quality boilie will do (cheap nasty ones may work too, but i've never tried it )
  6. You shouldn't have flogged that boat, an echo sounder would have saved me a lot of marker work in the future  Got the money issue out the way now too, bring on the weekend I already know where the gravel bars & deep spots are Not sure the weather will be on our side though
  7. Nige, while you're in a generous mood, would you be a good chap & map my new lake out for me please?
  8. Excellent post Sadly for Carpcrazy01, it's a year too late No more swearing please. It gets people banned
  9. your a lot more experianced with hare's than me stoog, iwould naturally shorten the hair thinking its catching on the outside of the mouth maybe thats why you never fail and i lose fish my furry friend ,whats the longest you would make the hair? In the original post, Faze 81 says that he uses a 3mm gap. You'd shorten that? Once the bait has been in the water it will swell slightly & may impede the hook. If i'm using an 18mm boilie, i'll start at a gap of about the same size & go from there. Never been a fan of hares though. Too chewy
  10. I felt this thread was starting to get too personal. My views are the same, regardless of venue. As for the other thread link, i can't say. I wasn't a mod when that started.
  11. Now seems like a good time to remind members that posts bordering on character assasination are not allowed. We all have gripes at fisheries & their owners from time to time, but as already mentioned, there are acceptable & respectful ways to deal with them. Write a letter, (keep a copy) & send it recorded delivery. Express your concerns in a polite manner & if possible, outline possible improvements. Don't make the first line, "Oi pal! Your lake's (insert a four letter word of your choice) This will not improve the fishing for anyone. Ask for a response. After that, if you still believe that a lake in question is not meeting a reasonable standard then you have every right to contact the EA. Let them deal with it, that's what they're payed for Opinions are welcomed on this forum. Insults & allegations are not. Lets all just try to get along
  12. First thing i'd try is a longer hair. A longer hair will allow the bait to be taken in further befor the hook is felt. My way of thinking is that this will take more effort for the Carp to blow the bait, giving the hook more time to find a hold. Whatever the reason, i find it works for me
  13. the wife was great when we booked gave us a few tips etc , just owner didnt come round till 9am i think being a sat night must have had a few cans in front of telly etc i pop,d back dinner time n gave them the cash i owed for the simple reason im hoping to crack the pool at a later date (once im as wise as them dam carp) Best of luck. There are some good looking fish in there.
  14. Tha owners are actually very good, once you get to know them. Normally one of their kids comes to collect the money, if not just knock on the door. The specimen pool isn't easy, but the rewards are there if you can crack it
  15. Very often if the bait has been picked up then dropped, your bobbin will be in a different position because the lead will have moved.
  16. That's almost certainly a liner
  17. I tie a couple of knots in the hair when using braid
  18. Do what?! Slide down onto the hook?!!! U gotta be jokin right!?!? If my lead was sliding onto the hook I'd be very very worried. Inline sit above a swivel, so how do they slide down onto the hook? I think he means that the weed slides down, not the weight
  19. Buy cheaper leads I use Armalead Locjaw Lead Clips. These release the lead everytime, perfect for weedy/snaggy waters.
  20. I'm not too far from there, yet i've not heard of them I started looking at your photo's & instantly thought, it's not for me. Then i saw the 5th photo. Now that looks a lovely little pool Could you PM me with any more details on that pool please?
  21. Don't believe a word they tell you. PM sent. Ian Ian, would you be so kind as to send me the PM too, please?
