  1. Some Pop-up rigs on here: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22185
  2. I can remember it being on the Halstead Ticket as they used to hold regular Matches on it that were often won with Netful of Skimmers or Bream. I did hear of a couple of Big Name Anglers fished it and had a very secret Fish that was larger than has been put on their website. Have seen some pictures of the Fish and I would put it at the claimed weight, just wasn't sure if the water was the right one. Long Walk, thats nothing, I used to fish Taverham Mills
  3. weeley:P haha erm how about suffolk water park?? If you do I might see you there. Just remember thats its not an easy water either, but the Results are definitely there if you get things right. A blank may be the same result, but at least the quality of the fish is a definite plus. The Bailiffs reckon on at least 15 different 30lb+ Fish, and the smallest landed that I have seen was a high single. Its secure at night, there is very little litter, the Bailiffs, especially Trevor, are very clued up on the fish and the lake. Even better is you can have breakfast delivered to your swim.
  4. Mud rubbed up and down the rig. Lead coils, the inner from Leadcore, coiled around the rig in places. Next point, always keep some putty in the Tackle box!
  5. is that the sort you use to thread needles? Reckon that be the one
  6. If you are inexperienced with Leadcore and have to buy ready Made then avoid the Korda ones! Also I would recommend avoid using Leadcore at all if you can get away without it. I have had some that the Lead has been pulling through the actual leadcore coating. If you must use it then a splice at either end works, and you don't need to Superglue it, but test it properly! Then the Hooklink swivel can be fished as loop to loop and the hooklink changed in seconds. Mainline end I make sure that the knot I tie is either Needle Knot if Unspliced or Uni Knot if it is spliced. Incidentally I fish it with Running Leads not as a SILT RIG (TO GIVE IT ITS REAL NAME). The same loop to loop can be done with a lead as well for Silt/Helicopter rigs The best Leadcore I have found for splicing is Gardner Plummet and the ESP
  7. Are Hair Rigs for Maize/Sweetcorn and other Particles different from Boilie Rigs? The one thing I would do is use smaller hooks and as fine a Hooklink as I could safely get away with. A few grains of Maize or sweetcorn with a Piece of the Plastic Fantastic on the hair, or even just the Plastic one. Multiples Can be fished as a Stack rig with the Plastic Piece either at the end of the Hair or as the Bait underneath the Stop end Piece. You may even be able to Hook mount Sweetcorn if you are not fishing that far out. Good Grief, No hair, what is the world coming to? Gaz, Now 100 times please: Artificial
  8. Yep, The Search Facility is wonderful, as is having a scan through some of the other posts! http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=27522
  9. Question for you using Blowback rigs. I know that there are times when you get "sussed", but every time you get sussed with a Hair rig then the rig is still suitable to catch. If you get sussed with a Blowback rig and have no indication, then you could have a rig that is no longer able to catch fish until you recast at next reeling in time. Doesn't that thought put you off using them? If the carp are suckers as opposed to pickers, surely as they inhale the bait, the blowback rig and bait is repositioned for the rig to work to its design ? Not if the original, as it was designed with a piece of Silicone on the Hook Shank, the hair won't go back into place. Even if its tied up with a Rig Ring on the shank once its been blown and ejected and possibly "marked" as dangerous then the Carp may totally leave that bait alone. Yet another fish comes in with a Standard Hair then that "blown" bait will still be effective if it gets picked/sucked up. The other thing about it, say you have a Carp, or even other fish, wave its tail fin hard, and the Bait gets moved, it could move up against the silicone and the rig could then be rendered useless. At least with an ordinary Hair rig the Bait would still be able to be taken in. If you used a D-rig, suitable for both Bottom and Pop-ups, then you have a rig that would work if the bait was sucked or picked up, or ejected and sucked later. By the way, I have been playing in the kitchen sink and working on that theory above. To get the suction I was using a Syringe, so although I could not get the power of a Carp Suck I did have something that did move the water, bait and hook in the vicinity of the rig. To simulate Pick-up feeding Carp i did resort to fingers around the bait, and with the silicon Blowback, the hook hang funny on pick up. To force the Bait and hook out over the finger thumb loop I used the syringe again, and didn't always get hook-ups! The D-rig had far better hooking properties after a rejected bait for sucking and picking up.
  10. Does that mean you like my rig Didn't say I liked it , but its your pic and the rig you used. Therefore its worth putting it up in the Sticky Question for you using Blowback rigs.
  11. Plain Basic Line aligner for bottom baits, and D-Rig for Pop-ups. Pics on this Sticky: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?p=276520#276520 Plus I have put StarBaits line aligner on there as well. If anyone else has any Rig Pics they want put up then I'll do it for them, just PM me the pics and they'll go straight up
  12. lol, I know about the Search facility being a bit of a Pain at times. Ask for one item and 2564 threads come up and not all of them relevant. It depends on what you want to do with it. Vitalin mixed stiff can be used as a Method Mix if soaked and then Drained off. Or if you want a milky cloud with it then let it take on too much water. When its wet I find it comes out of a spod better. It also mixes with other Groundbaits well. When I do that I tend to put enough Boiling Water to wet it, leave it over night, and then mix dry groundbait or Base Mix into the Vitalin next day.
  13. Thats it, do we often overcomplicate things?
  14. And I was just about to give you a smart remark as well. The best way I found to prepare Vitalin was to pour boiling Water over it the night before I used it. Just not always possible on the Bank. I used to keep some Vitalin and Particles in the Car when I went for a couple of days. Every time I would go I would pour some Particles straight onto it the Day before I needed it. So if I was fishing for 3 days I would have a Bucket of Vitalin prepared at home with Boiling Water. As soon as I had put that in the Lake I would top the Bucket up with Fresh Vitalin and then pour some of the Particles in on top of it. Basically you can use the Vitalin almost dry, but I prefer a reasonably wet mix for the Spod.
  15. Hi Beccs, Welcome to the Forum. Try this:http://www.gosfieldlake.co.uk/ I did ask about it earlier in the thread, but have found this about about it. Nick

  17. Thats it, I'm going to start a SUPPORT WEELEY FISHERY Petition!
  18. Stick to some of the Basic Rigs on here: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22185 and you won't go far wrong I reckon
  19. The thing I would suggest is to get used to a couple of hooklink materials, 1 braid (coated or uncoated), 1 mono, 1 Fluorocarbon and get them to work for you. It may mean being different from other anglers on the waters you are fishing. As for advice on 3 lakes I would recommend having a look in UK Where to Fish or Finding a Carp Water, if there is nothing available ask in there (1 post in one or the other not both )
  20. This thread may help. Its called Hooklink materials http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=27331
  21. This May help as well http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=27237
  22. go on matt heyes makes my kit look like a starter kit from Argos. have you ever side hooked bolies? as have been thinking about it but don't no any one who has give it a go. i have come up with a way that alows the bolie to move clear from hook with ease but is firm enough to withstand the cast. Just thinking that fish as they age they wise up to straight hook baits of corn and the like, as well as hair rigd ones. but doubt that many have come across a sided hooked bolie, or do you no of good reason for this? and could it be a moment of maddnes on my part? If a water has not been fished before then the hair is not a requirement. Its only when Side or Eye Hooking gets blown/the Carp get wary of them, that we need to go to the Hair Rig. Its also a Point of ease to mount a bait on the Hair rather than Side Hooking. Even on many waters that have been fished with the hair then Soft Baits like Luncheon Meat, Sweetcorn and the like, can still work with Side Mounting. Saying that though, the way that many fish with the Bait tight to the Shank on short hairs then the hooking arrangement is almost identical to Shank/Side mounting. If you really want to go into that though have a look at "my" Complicated Rigs thread in the Advanced Section of the Forum. Its long winded, headache inducing, but covers loads of information, experiments and ideas.
  23. Got all of these in the Tackle Box for different situations: Kryston Super Mantis, Mantis Gold, Supersilk, SuperNova, Merlin, Carp-R-Us Clearwater fluorocarbon, Amnesia 15 and 30lb White, Drennan Fly Leader in 12lb and Big Fish Adventure Deception in Silt Colour (now marketed by Wychwood?) Its strange though, nearly all my Bottom Bait rigs get tied up with Mantis (either version), Supernova or Merlin. The Amnesia is there for Combi and Stiff Rigs and the 30lb for Shock Leaders. The Clearwater is very rarely used except for Zigs and the Fly Leader for Surface Fishing. The BFA Deception I do use when it matches the bottom better than the Kryston (not often)
  24. I believe that there is a water in the area called Howle Pool. I have got some details for a Lake in the area. Please PM me if you want details as I'm just waiting for an Update to come through from the Owner
