  1. David, this yet another water fairly near to me that I've walked around but never fished, Doh! Oh, welcome to the forum, mate, enjoy and thanks for the heads-up. Ian
  2. Just to let you know Tim has contacted me and he is going to post the stick to me so hopefully sorted now till I can get some chubb bars. Just wanted to say a big thank you to you both for all your help and advice. Simon, I should have had a look on here before rummaging in the garage! I can't find mine so it's just as well that Tim is sorting you out. It's good to see that the forum is maintaining it's reputation for being a friendly place. Tim, you're a star! Ian
  3. Frogy, you'd probably be better off accepting Tim's (Newmarket) offer of his flexy-stick thingy as I've no idea where I chucked mine and if you could see the inside of my garage (read skip) you'd fully understand why it would take some time to find it! By the way, despite lacking the bit we're discussing, you've done very well indeed on price! I'll have a look tomorrow, honest. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that Tim's nearer to you. I'm in North Warwickshire, near Brum. Ian
  4. Frogy, if I can find it you're welcome to my original, nasty elasticated pole thingy for free, mate. You'll be better off with the Chub items though, trust me. Ian
  5. Now you've got me intrigued, what other way? I have sent jrc spare parts an email so hopefully they will reply tomorrow and let me know if any spares are available. Buy a set of 3 Chub telescopic bivvy braces and use them instead of the elasticated pole thingy. In fact, the latest Sti's have them as standard, now, so you could use those I guess. My STi is older and I used to have the elasticated bit which was a nightmare to deploy. Now, all is sweetness and light. Oh, and the bivvy is far more rigid when assembled. Ian
  6. If you fancy travelling to a fishery near Stratford upon Avon give Arden Fishery a go. It's entrance drive is off Ingon Lane. Orchard Pool is the specimen water there and holds some cracking old warriors, dark fish that have been in there for a long, long time. Ian
  7. Well in, Lee. I've only just picked up on this thread, sorry. I find the Riddings speci pool a bit of an enigma. It's either rammed or you're fishing solo. Summer weekends are often simple lunacy! Have you looked at the top pool, right at the very top of the site? There are some fairly well kept secrets in there....not quite so secret now, of course . If you try it you'll see a line of reeds along the centre of the water. Cast as close to them as you can. Ian
  8. Sounds like bait boat territory although I guess that they're not allowed. Ian
  9. Esmine, if you don't already have one get a fleece lined overblanket. I use a Trakker Peachskin which has straps and buckles to attach it to the side frame of the bedchair so it stays put. It's the business! Ian
  10. I haven't fished Coombe Abbey for years but I remember that there was a no-fishing bank (Nature Reserve?) and all the fish seemed to be over there! Things may have changed, though. Ian
  11. If it's the one almost opposite the marina on the edge of Fazeley....save your money. It's NOT as advertised....it's rubbish and the bailiff lies pathologically. A pal of my son, a very competent, knowledgeable angler, had a ticket for the place and swears he was robbed! If you use the search facility on here you may find a thread on the subject. It was covered in some depth. Ian
  12. Rickyboy, you might want to have a look at The Lamb Angling Club (Google it) as they control several waters in and around Tamworth. Good luck, mate. Ian
  13. Have a look at Lemington Lakes. Fairly close to you and there's some lumps to be had. Ian
  14. Ok mate thats great, I'll get some photos up and I'll put a general " How i got on post " up when I'm back Good man, I'll look forward to it. By the way, if you've got 1.3 million quid knocking about spare you could buy the water and the owner's adjoining palatial house. It's all up for sale....... Ian
  15. Dan, it's a fairly large, reed lined, bay and the swim I've mentioned is the only one which has access to the bay. Yes, there's a good sized lily bed and the water, in general, has a silty bottom, typical of Shropshire meres. I've done a couple of mini-socials on the water and Andy52 did very well in the swim I'm talking about. Enjoy. Ian
  16. It is mate, iv just booked for a day session on monday, worth a shot. Il put a post up letting you guys know a bit more about the place Danny, if it's available get into the swim at the righthand end of the lake, when viewed from the car park. It's a bit of a hike but when you get there you'll see why I advise this. Ian
  17. Mickey, welcome to the forum mate. Have you had a look at Willesley Lake, near Ashby de la Zouche? Nice place with some lumps in. Also have a look at www.fisheries.co.uk You'll probably find it helpful. Ian
  18. Dreamcarp, click on Kim's link, follow it up and drive to Vire en Chamagne for the best week of your angling life. You will not regret your choice, trust me. Ian
  19. We recently installed some wrought iron handrails in the rear garden of a house in Amington, not far from Polesworth. The garden backs onto the Coventry Canal and the owner, a non-angler, told us that he frequently sees fish "as long as your arm" in there. My son showed him a picture of a carp, photographed from above. "That's the fellers" was the reply. Ian
  20. Thanks for that welder I have seen it on that website too there is alittle bit of info on there but what I was after is abit of anglers knowledge of the place. Iam not asking for anyone to give away there secrets about the place but I would like to know what gets them going and what parts of the lake have been producing. I have my eye on one or two swims on there after I went for a walk around yesterday just wondering if my instincts are still intact lol. Trust your instincts, find the fish, feed them and catch them. It's fairly open ground around there so I'd check out the wind direction upon arrival. I'd face a warmer breeze and fish under my rod tips. A cooler wind would find me fishing off the back of it and looking for sheltered areas as fish holding havens. Hey, just go and fish it and let us know how you fared. Enjoy! Ian
  21. Hi Willow, I know nothing about this fishery but I've just looked it up on www.fisheries.co.uk and it certainly looks and sounds like a cracking place. £20 a night is entirely reasonable and stock levels are good. I might have a go on there myself later this year. I'm glad you asked the question! Ian Edit. Just had a look at the place on Google Earth. Very nice, out in the back of beyond and surrounded by open countryside.
