    River fun

Was up at 5 yesterday for a 6am start......... in Work 😩😩😩😩 Around 9 a small chlorine leak sees our job stopped. By 9.30 told to get yaself home no more work being done today (Health and Safety really is your friend..... sometimes) 😆😆 oh and your payed till 6pm...... RESULT 😎 Phone call to matey boy asking if he fancied a drive and a couple of hrs later we’re on our club stretch of the Severn in Atcham. It’s 2pm by now so 2 rods flicked out kettle on and time to top my tan up as it was a lovely day with clear blue skies....... not ideal conditions but after an early rise for a full day in Work to be sat by the river still on pay i wasn’t going to grumble 😆😆😎 Unfortunately nothing of any size graced my net but a switch to lob worm on one rod seen me catch a steady supply of perch and bream🙄 a small chub on the pellet rod. Fished till dark ended up with 20odd fish and had a good day with a mate. And I still managed to get home and showered in time for MOTD ..... happy days 😬

    Kamakura hooks

You could tie a couple of knots in the hair length. This will stop the baits from sliding apart.

  5. http://lilyfisheries.co.uk/ Meant to be the quietest of their waters.. 17 acres... Few hundred fish.... Fast growers stocked about 10 years back, with some originals and some "born in the lake" from stockies……… Had a look at a couple of their waters myself...… Lords is pretty deep and bowl shaped, not too many features to fish to in open water...….. Reed fringed and quiet, due to location and not holding the biggest fish of their venues, but fish to over 30lbs.. Everything is on the link..... If you want a phone number, find their FB page, it's on there...…… Hope this helps.... The fish are a bit of a mixed bag, some stunners and some not so, but some crackers in amongst.... If you are looking for somewhere quiet to fish, worth a look... It is literally in the middle of nowhere, on the Cambs fens......

Great bait and hookbaits. When mounting the cultured baits, don’t forget to cut a bit of the coating away for where the boilie stop sits. This will keep the stop tight to the bait when the outer layers disperse

  8. I’m of the same opinion and broadly of the same generation. I’ve fished since before I can actually remember; my old man started taking me as a 4 year old. We fished on a local club water for just about anything that came along but occasionally Dad would break out his old MKIV and target the Carp population. There were lots of kids my age on the same water doing exactly the same. By the age of 11 I was targetting Carp with my 9ft solid glass spinning rod, Mitchell CAP and fairy liquid top indicators...... At the time I was most definitely in the minority and the majority were general coarse anglers and ‘match’ types. I was always quite proud to tell people I was a Carp angler-it was a sub culture with very little exposure and next to no commercial value. How things have changed! Now I’m almost embarassed to call myself a Carp specialist because of the atmospere and associations with commercial tie-ups, and desperate wannabes. A long time friend of mine has all but ‘retired’ from fishing for the same reasons. He is a fantastic, gifted angler who, if he chose to, would be a ‘household name’; I know a couple and have fished alongside a few. Sad really. I’ve gone a little off topic here and no longer fish locally but I occasionally drive past the old club waters and rarely see kids or even general coarse anglers, just bivvies and barrows.
