  1. Popped back last night for an intended evening session, winkled out a 24lb Common at 7pm from under the rod tip again. So decided to stay on for the night..... Should've quit while I was ahead. Only a stubborn Cat of around 15lb through the night, took me into the weed, took about 40 mins to land and completely wiped out both rods which needed re setting from scratch...….. They don't half pull back, those cats..... Heard a few fish showing to my left through the night. My guess is that I wasn't the only one plopping some bait in after Sunday's work party...…. A fella took some pics of the Common and is going to email them to me, so I'll post it up when he does...……. Getting low on bait now, so will have to make time for a rolling sesh soon...…. Also, had 5 more tench, they are costing me a fortune in leads, Not much I can do about it though at the moment, as , imo, even a small lead needs dropping with the weed still up and dense...…… I went back onto the Gardner GTHD in 15lb for this place and I'm finding it a real pain in the backside. Can't fault it's strength and abrasion resistance, but it just seems to krimp/crinkle at the slightest touch of anything, weed, tip ring, bobbin etc. Even when playing 5lb Tench….. Not too happy about having to strip off 10 yards of line a few times each session.... It's the second time I've loaded this on my spools and had a few coiling issues the first time round. So I'll be looking to re spool again this week with something else...….

  2. Heading over the channel for the first time in a couple of months. A group of us are going for a mates 50 th , we had to change the venue from the original one booked, But I think to a man we are all more than happy where we've ended up . With the whole lake booked an only ten of us fishing , there will be plenty of opportunity to move or head off stalking etc . Really need to start thinking about getting bait sorted etc as it will soon be August.

  3. Getting in amongst them BC 😎 I find myself swapping my line these days ..... if I need distance then the suffix synergy spools go on But anything under 120 y & it's the hydro tuff that yonny put me on to , can't fault it for snaggy waters.

  5. Looks superb. Hope you have a great time!! I picked up these little snippets "elsewhere" regarding bait, hope they help.... "Hi.. I've fished and taken groups to Chateat Moulin for approx 12 yrs .You won't be disappointed, stunning venue, great owners and a lovely place to fish/spend time. Only been once in June (a bit hot for me) although I still caught well, normally go October and or winter.. Going swims.... as with any lake there are the popular 'hot'or 'going' swims that tend to produce more chances but don't be disheartened if you come out 'down the draw' .. I always take last choice and do ok every swim on the lake will produce.. Bait .... mmmm .. now I would say the Housebait , but I supply it.. So .. with all honesty, take a good quality bait and you'll be ok..But especially in the warmer months don't take small baits and don't use stick mix etc as there are lots of silvers that will plague you.Have a look on their website some helpfull tips etc and details of restrictions on hook type etc . Most of all .. enjoy the surroundings . Any other info feel free to pm me or message Steve through the Chateau Moulin facebook page and he'll put you right" "Went last year, min size 4 hooks(as your fishing against Lilly pads) simple flouro d rigs is ok.Take plenty of bait I personally did ok on Premier baits quad.£6.50 kg. Fishmeals tend to attract cat fish also use nothing less than 20mm as there are lots of bream. Lovely water,Kim and Steve are great people.I had 25 fish mainly 30s everybody else was catching 50s I fished rods up high with heavy indicators.Don't be afraid to put plenty of bait in,they love there boilies!!Don't use particles as you will just get breamed out.Hope I've been of help."

  6. Work party tomorrow on the little lake I've been dabbling on...… The gear is still in the van so might do a few hours into dark after the fish have settled down a bit after any noise we make. Failing that I'll trickle some bait in while I'm there and hopefully nip back for an evening sesh in the week.
