Hi Neal , damn right you can't give up , this thread has had 3,561 views and they can't all be Spr and me ! . Everyone is waiting for the next exciting episode of Neal v Bayeswater . Did Neal's dog mistake him for an intruder and eat him ? . Will Neal decide to sell all his Fishing Gear and donate the proceeds to the Church Roof Restoration Fund ? . And another thing Neal , you persuaded Spr to start fishing at Bayeswater , even 6ft. plus , hairy , tatooed blokes have feelings ! .

Well Neal tomorrow I'm finally venturing out fishing for the first time since December , as it's finally probably warm enough for me . However , you've been out there for months , and you're not quitting . So I would like to think if anyone from the forum did recognise you down at Bayeswater they'd say " you're the bloke with balls that's just not giving up ! " I do like Yonnys' idea of always having a lead about at the end of a session , especially when he has had some kind of action .

  3. Had one for a while but not used it yet, as the large spomb is doing the job perfectly well . Heard you need to check the pin has its ends rounded off as there was a problem with them moving & bending under the forces. The only person I have seen using one was filling a spomb with it

  4. Anyway, if anything I've said on this or any other thread has come across as unconsidered or argumentative then I apologise, and assure you, it is unintentional. There are so many opinions, so many rules, so many options available. Some lakes have barbed hooks only, some barbless only. Some bean mats only, some cradles only. Some safe zone only, some no safe zone. Etc etc etc. I think it's fair to say that any conscientious carp angler considers the safety of their quarry when setting up in any fishing situation. There is inherent risk to the fish just by fishing for it. i guess what we've experienced personally is what shapes what we see as safe or not.
